Dr. Joel Gonchar, MD

I first started seeing Dr Gonchar in the 1980's and through 7 years of Freudian analysis four days a week he literally saved my life. He is brilliant, incisive, honest, caring and when necessary "tells it like it is." I see him now a few times a year for a reboot and we sit-face-to-face and it is like sitting with a dear and caring friend, who remembers everything I had been through and discussed - and he steers me in helpful directions. He is a marvel. His office is a place of calm and has the aura of a safe haven.

Older guy who still actually practices Freudian psychotherapy, sitting behind the person's head while patient is lying on a couch. He even grooms himself to resemble Freud and quotes him. But he's more of a hazard because he promotes powerful meds and mixing three, maybe more, together. Office has an odor too.

Dr. G. is ideal: warm, wise, & cautious with meds. He is abreast of all the studies & research of his field. Although his expertise is impressive, to say the least, he is modest & good-hearted.
