Meet Riverton, Utah Dentist - Dr. Howarth
Joel Howarth graduated with a D.D.S. Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree from The University of Michigan School Of Dentistry in 1974. For the next two years he served as a captain in the Air Force Dental Corps in Madrid Spain. In 1976 Joel moved to Portland, Oregon where he started his dental practice which consisted of a small office with two treatment rooms, a small lab and small reception area. His practice outgrew the small office which resulted in having to move to a much larger facility in the Hood Professional Center.
In 1985 Joel decided to return to his roots in Utah where he opened a brand new dental office in West Valley City. Growing his practice quickly, he soon moved to a much larger office in West Jordan, Utah. In 2002 a fire distroyed the entire building and Joel was forced to relocate to a new location in Riverton, Utah. Fortunately for Joel, all of his patients records had been backed up allowing him to move forward barely missed …a beat. Just another example of Joel’s attention to detail.
Joel has continued his dental education over the years including Dental Implantology, Full Mouth Reconstruction,
Occlusion, Endodontics and Porcelain Veneers. Joel speaks proudly of his office staff, many of who have been with
him for over ten years!
As a Dentist, I spend a lot of time
in-doors working with my patients and staff everyday, so when the weekend comes I am ready to get out side and have some fresh air fun! I love travelling and enjoy many different kinds of sports including hunting and fishing. I love the out-of-doors and spend every available minute I can with family and friends. I firmly believe that in life you have to work hard but you have to play even harder!
I also enjoy snow skiing, golfing, motor cycle riding, jet skiing and atv riding. I really enjoy listening to a variety of music and I play the guitar. My nick name "Joelar Molar" was coined by a former dental assistant and has stuck. In the video of Joelar Molar and the Molarettes on our home page, the guitar I am playing is my dad's old gretch guitar that I have restored and love playing. I started playing trumpet in Junior high and then switched to guitar in high school. In college at the U. of Utah I played guitar in the Sigma Nu Fraternity folk band. Our band took the first place music award at the Home Coming talent event in 1968. I also enjoy singing and have sung in many church choirs.
I am so proud of our new office! I have watched it being built from the ground up and now it is such a treat to be all moved in and to have our wonderful clientele enjoy a brand new state-of-the-art facility! I have two wonderful children, a son and a daughter, they are the best! When my Daughter Deborah was 10 years old she made a drawing titled "Dad" and shows me as Smiley Joe the Dentist, I just love it and here is a photo of it. We have placed this in our waiting room of our office so please look at it when you come to your dental appointment, I think you will love it too. By the way Deborah is the dark haired girl on the left in the Joelar Molar and the Molarette band.
