Dr. Joel Kaufman Kahn, MD

Dr. Kahn was recommended to me by a friend. After suffering a mild heart attack at age 51, I was under the care of my cardiologist and wanted to expand my level of care, seek a second opinion, and discuss cutting edge treatments and natural therapies. I am not the guy who wants to take high dose statins and blood pressure medication the rest of my life. Dr. Kahn did a carotid scan, full review of medical history and cardio reports, and ran an intensive blood work-up including genetic and special cardiac testing to provide a more complete "picture". After reviewing the aforementioned, "we" put together a comprehenisve plan focused on diet, reducing medication, lifestyle changes, and supplements designed to reduce my carotid scan numbers and reduce plaque build-up. He is very knowledgeable, listens and answers questions, uses science/study based information, and is straight forward. If you are looking for a second opinion, or a first, I highly recommend him. So much, we scheduled… my wife--who has no cardio issues--for a full cardio scan/review so she can get a baseline and potentially head off any issues before they begin.

No matter how many times you meet with Dr Kahn, you will always learn something about how to evaluate and protect your health. He cares. Don't stick your head in the sand. Get on board with Dr Kahn.

Dr Kahn’s knowledge is astounding and equally impressive is his old school bedside manner of having an unrushed conversation with the patient- welcoming questions and explaining information in a way a concerned lay person can understand. His vast knowledge supports appropriate testing beyond the usual and his understanding that the patient as a whole, their emotions, their experiences, their lifestyle, are relevant in assessing and treating the issue is refreshing and unique. Dr Kahn is on top of modern medicine while embracing the importance of old school bedside manner.

Doesn't accept insurance

After using several cardiologists I came upon Dr. Kahn. I'm still here. He is the absolute best as is his staff. He and his staff are knowledgeable and caring. He is up on all medications and also alternative meds. He takes his time and also makes sure you understand him. I don't know what else to say except if you want a good doctor, he's the best.

I have had much trouble getting my cholesterol levels in normal range. he is very concerned and caring and is doing more than most doctors to help me. He is sincerely a wonderful doctor and I would recommend him to any one.

Saw doctor kahn in his new office in Novi with DMC and Beaumont. Nice building, nice staff, short wait, nice computers for records. He was upbeat, took good amount of time, open to trying natural treatments, really seemed to care about my health and life, taught me a lot about nutrition

Dr. Kahn has been my cardiologist since a heart attack 16 years ago (1995). My first contact with him was pure chance but, followup inquiries and examination of his credentials indicate that I had the "luck of the draw".Anything he has ever told me turned out to be true and, in addition to his clinical skills, his knowledge of current medications has always been impressive.

Very satisfied.Kahn, along with other skills, has a deep understanding of the role for drugs in the treatment of CAD.Followup exams are conducted rapidly and he expects the patient to be prepared with any questions. He is not a touchy-feely physician so you won't find him chatting about unrelated items and making the visit a pleasant social occasion.
