Dr. Joel Phillip Karasek, MD

We will miss this pediatrician so much. He is like family to us. We are so sad to hear his office is closing. Down to earth and easy to talk to and he made me and my son feel safe and comfortable . We are sad about this. We will miss you Dr. K and Nurse Chrissy

Dr. Karasek took the time to see my two year old daughter when I know he didn't have time. He was loving and konowledgable.

Dr. Karasek is an excellent doctor - smart and very concerned about his patients. My kids like going to the office. Yes, he is busy. That's because he is in great demand. He works harder than most doctors. When my son had an earache, he stayed late so we could get there instead of going to the emergency room.

Dr. Karasek called me a few days after my new son and I were discharged from the hospital to imform me that I needed to go to the genetics clinic at Children's Mercy the next day to have blood tests done on him because his PKU test came back positive for some disease that he didn't know anything about. If, in the meantime, he were to get sick or stop breathing to take him to the ER at Children's Mercy. Why didn't he at least look up something about the disease before calling a brand new mother to tell her that her son may have it? Not only that, but a few days later chewed me out for taking the herbs that help milk production increase that the hospital gave me. He told me that herbs were not medically tested and that I was toying with the life of my son. Horrible Doctor.

Dr. Karasek is a loving doctor and my kids love him. However, his office is very busy. Once the day's schedule is full (sometimes by 9am), the office stops answering the phone, which makes it difficult to get an answer to a question. Also, there is no way to contact him off hours... he has no message service or on-call number.

AWFUL pediatrician. Misdiagnosed a bowel obstruction in my child.
