Dr. Johan Boneschansker, MD

I would not recommend Dr. Johan Boneschansker for Crohn’s disease management, particularly for patients with long-standing experience managing their condition. I have lived with Crohn’s disease for over 40 years and am very familiar with my flare patterns and what has worked effectively for me in the past. During a recent flare, I was experiencing significant pain and was unable to work. Despite this, Dr. Boneschansker declined to provide short-term treatment (such as a brief prednisone course) and instead ordered testing that would take approximately 7 days for results. While I understand the importance of appropriate testing, there was no interim plan to manage symptoms or maintain quality of life during that waiting period. For a patient in acute distress, this approach felt dismissive and not aligned with patient-centered care. Patients with chronic conditions like Crohn’s often benefit from a collaborative approach that incorporates both clinical guidelines and long-term… patient experience. Unfortunately, I did not feel heard or supported in this regard. I would encourage others to ensure their provider is willing to discuss and establish a clear, responsive flare management plan.
