Dr. Johanna J Abernathy, MD

Dr. Johanna Abernathy is truly one of a kind. She not only has gone out of her way to visit me in the hospital, squeeze me in for an appt, talked with me when i needed an ear to bend, and delivered all my babies, she is a person of character, honor, strength and positive energy. I am sad to see her retire but it is well deserved! Take care Dr. Abernathy; i wish you much happiness on your new path!!!

I have met w Dr Abernathy for better part of 30 yrs. she has been very cordial, respectful, professional, and humorous. I am sad to see her retire but am thankful and grateful I got to know her and am proud to have had her deliver my three children and help me through medical issues. A huge THANKYOU to Dr. Johanna J. Do not gamble with your face by going to Dr Abernathy's Cosmetic Solutions. She does NOT know how to diagnose or deal with complications of procedures she and her staff perform. Her ethics are so lacking, I cannot even recommend her as a gynecologist.A poorly trained nurse or Dr Abernathy's (Sheila Scheib) injected me with a dermal filler, and it destroyed half of my face. They tell you there are no serious complications, and it simply isn't true! Dermal filler that is improperly injected can cause skin necrosis, which results in serious scarring and disfigurement. They do not know how to recognize the signs of complications, and worse, they don't know how to deal with them. When I went to their office for help, their mouths just dropped open at the sight of my mutilated face. They ran and got Dr Johanna Abernathy. She also did not know what to do, and sent me to the emergency room! They didn't know what to do either, and just guessed that I had an infection. They gave me antibiotics,… which were not effective.After seeking a competent doctor who has successfully treated dermal filler complications, I discovered (too late) that I had skin necrosis. This was caused by Nurse Sheila Scheib injecting filler into a blood vessel. Skin necrosis is almost always caused by improper injection. Once it presents, it can be managed effectively if the staff knows what to do. The staff at Cosmetic Solutions did not know what to do. Because of their incompetency, I live with a deformed face every day of my life. I do not even want to be alive anymore.Dr Abernathy and Cosmetic Solutions have refused to take responsibility. Whenever I have asked for help, they have been rude and condescending. I went in to request my medical records, and the staff harassed me for pictures. They got right in my face to stare at me like I'm a freak. They claim they are "investigating what happened to me" but when I ask for specifics on what they are doing or what the status is, they do not have answers. Upon reading my medical record, I was shocked to find out that, rather than having medically significant information, it was filled with negative gossip and personal attacks on me. The receptionist, Carla Labus, even critiqued my makeup in my medical record! She also made unqualified judgments on my mental state, even though she doesn't even have a Bachelor's degree or any other education that qualifies her to make such statements. I don't have a history of mental illness, and was a happy person before this happened to me. I think it's understandable that I'm sad about seeing a stranger's face in the mirror every day.I have since been told that I am no longer allowed to contact Dr Abernathy for any reason, not even for medical assistance. I can only talk to their "practice administrator" (read: legal guy), Tom Kaloupek. I have never threatened or harassed anyone at Cosmetic Solutions to warrant such an action. I believe their lawyer is concerned that Dr Abernathy or the staff will say something incriminating, and that is why I'm not allowed to contact them.Please do not make the same mistake I did. I only wanted to look nice in my wedding photos, and went to Cosmetic Solutions for what I thought was a safe procedure. My life is now completely ruined. I was once very beautiful, but now I look scarred and freakish. Fillers, Botox, and lasers all have serious complications that Dr Abernathy won't know how to treat. If you really feel you need these procedures, please go to a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon or Dermatologist.
