Dr. John Stephen Abele

Because I objected to Dr. Abele using my thyroid biopsy slides for his own personal research, he now will not see me for future biospsies. I am curious about the purpose of Dr. Abele's research. Is it to help his patients or advance his career?

I had a thyroid biopsy done previously at a local teaching hospital, what a different experience this was. Dr. Abeley was careful, thorough, explained his procedure and described what he was seeing. Because of his research grant he is highly accomplished at this form of biopsy. Thank you Dr. Abeley

I don't appreciate having a request to participate in a research study form thrust in my face upon entering the office for my appointment. That did not set a good tone for my overall impression of Dr. Abele. The appointment should have been about me and not about advancing some doctor's reputation/name in the medical research field. Dr. Abele is your typical cold, low affect male doctor. I'm always wary of doctors who come, "highly recommended" by other doctors. That usually translates into nothing more than ego-stroking nepotism rather than actual bedside manner or skill.

Best doctor ever. Very kind, understanding and answers any questions you may have. I have never had a more patient, understanding doctor. I feel blessed to have been referred to him.

Dr. Abele did my biopsy and he is knowledgeable , competent and polite. He didn't rush the procedure. As a matter of fact he even took time to explain what he was going to do and as he was doing the procedure. He is kind and polite. I would recommend him to anyone or my love ones.

Dr. Abele is not available to patients due to his vacation schedule. Follow-up is quite poor, calls not returned, records lost, and misinformation in chart.
