Dr. John Errol Asher, MD

It seems some "good reviews" for this John Asher of Jetti Katz lab have been written by himself! Do not trust this fraud. He clearly does not know how to detect parasites or treat them properly. He charges for individual parasite detection. I too wasted almost $1700 and was only told that my blastocystis is pathogenic. Completely not true. When I told him that I had bad joint pain from parasites (which ended up being a helminth), he sent me to get x-rays. he then asked me to get a CT scan as well! I refused that and went to a better doctor. Asher clearly does not know his profession. He also tells people parasites are in people's head.

Avoid this John E Asher at all costs; he does not know how to diagnose. He charges for each parasite test, as opposed to looking for all of them in one test. No doctor I know does that. And the guy clearly does not know which meds for which parasites. He gives metronidazole for ameba and tell people that Blastocystis is pathogenic. I almost died from taking 21 days of Metronidazole. He said my previous dose of 8 days of Metro was not enough. It did nothing. I had ameba and I needed a proper combination of drugs, which this man does not know. He also smokes in office.

I have to disagree with the reviewer below. I too went to this guys John Asher, and he failed to detect me what I had. I had horrible joint pain, and it was all from a parasite, But he only diagnosed me with Blasto. Blastocysitis is not pathogenic, but he gave me 21 days of Metronidazole, a horrible drug, which nearly destroyed my life, causing me so much damage, that are probably life long. He also sent me to get exrays for my joint pain. Asher did not know that parasites were the cause of it. I had just gotten ill, and all my joint pain came with diarrhea and stomach pain. He did not care about that. He just scoffed at that. I would not trust him. I spent close $1800 dollars, including a fee of $500 to see him only once. All i got was a horrible misdiagnosis, and being yelled at, when I called him meds did not work. Only after seeing another doctor, and finding the true parasite, did all my symptoms disappear, with the proper meds.combo.

I am sorry I did not have a very good experience with John Asher. He missed my E. Histolytica and found what was a bogus parasite called Blastocysis, and prescribed 21 days of Metronidazole 750mg 3 times a day. That almost made my life so miserable and painful. And it did nothing to help. I spent close $2000 for testing and consultation fee. Consultation fee itself is $500. This is was complete waste of money. I hate to say that John Asher does not know his medicine. He does not know that E,. Histolytica cannot be gotten rid of by Metronodazole along. And that you need a tiisue drug pluus luminal drug, and he has no clue about this. When I called him and I was so ill and that meds did not work, he asked me to go to Gastro specialist! When I had severe back pain and joint pain from E. Histolytica, he said I need ex-rays. And then I asked if they would show parasites, and then he yelled at me saying that "parasites are what you have in your head"This after he charged me close to $2000.… Then I went to another doctor on 5th avenue who found my E. Histolytica and he cured me.

Dr. Asher administered tests which diagnosed a parasite overnight and then prescribed medication which cured me after two and a half years of intense suffering. My HMO had misdiagnosed me for this long period. Dr. Asher gave me back my normal enjoyment of life.

I went to c Dr. Asher after many months of suffering and numerous drs. He was fantastic at getting to my problem. Dr. Asher is a great listener, has lots of patience, very knowledgeable and caring. Very accommodating. He's a genius. I would highly recommend him.

Dr Asher listened carefully to my problem and his diagnosis was spot on. He took a very complicated problem and resolved it satisfactorily. He took the time to explain both the problem and the process for cure. He certainly ranks among the "brightest and the best" of all the doctors I have experienced. I would highly recommend him to anyone. It was also a pleasure NOT to experience the typical NYC delay that most physicians in this area provide for the visit or service.

Doctor spent one hour reviewing ten years of complicated history including extensice travel,antibiotic usage, and long history of gastrointestinal distress. He ordered stool and blood tests and determined that My B12 anemia as well as ,y gastrointestinal symptoms were all due to tapeworm infection from eating undercooked gefilte fish(white fish). a simple course of antiparasitic antibiotics returned me to health I had not enjoyed for ten years.He is the best!

He was on time,reviewed my four inch thick chart while listening to my complaints for over 30 minutes, performed a thorough physical exam, and when done ,,made several recommendations for tests including blood and stool work, and in less than one week had discovered the cause of my gastrointestinal ailment which had eluded six previous doctors in Manhattan.He treated me for two weeks and cured the underlying condition which had left me debilitated for one year, He is the REAL DR. HOUSE .

he can't recognize when someone is sick!!let alone act on abnormal labs.!!
