Dr. John Richard Bacon, MD

I went to Dr. Bacon as a child (probably around 8 years old) because I got sick all the time during the school year. I got poked with a bunch of needles, then when nothing abnormal came up, he told me it was the "Baltimore Smog" from living in the Ohio Valley. This absolutely did not explain why I never got sick during the summer. It was only during the school year, and no one else around me had the same problems. Let me reiterate: It was only during the school year. Two weeks after school starts I'd be sick, and it would be all the way until the two weeks AFTER school let out before it would go away. You'd figure that if I lived in northern Carroll County, I wouldn't be the only one reacting to this Baltimore Smog. Not to mention, I lived out in Cumberland for a few years when I was a tot, and kindergarten was when I first started getting sick. I didn't move back out here until I was almost 7. I was told to go on prescription grade guaifenesin whenever I was sick...which… was ten months out of the year. And when I hit the age of about 15 or 16, I finally stopped getting sick and didn't have to be medicated all the time. Now that I'm 27 and I look back on my ordeal, I am quite disturbed and very disgusted that I was on one medication for about six or seven years because of some diagnosis that no one had ever heard of before. I may have had some sort of reaction to something in the HVAC systems that I eventually grew out of. Also, my mother discovered she had a deviated septum, which caused her sinus problems. It's likely that I have it as well, and that may have contributed or been the sole cause of my ailment. I do understand that smog makes people sick, but what about those hot summer months when I wasn't sick? Wouldn't the smog be worse then? I hope his practice has gotten better.

I have had asthma for years and someone gave me Dr Bacon's number. Out of desperation I called and got an appointment fairly quickly for a new patient...30 days. I was in his office for a total of 4 hours and it was completely enlightening. His knowledge of asthma and allergies was nothing short of astounding. It was like taking a college course. WOW...I walked out of his office armed with a bag of samples, perscriptions and instructions. It probably doesn't need to be said but I feel 100% better.

Dr. Bacon is always available to his patiences. There have been times when I was on vacation and developed sinus problems, allergy problems, coughing due to asthma and all I had to do was call Dr. Bacon. He returned my call immediately and after talking with me for five or so minutes, he called in a prescription at a nearby pharmacy and got me the meds I needed. I don't know what I would do without him as my other doctors are never available after hours.

Dr. Bacon is a very patient friendly doctor, he knows his field inside an out. I have the utmost respect for his ability to diagnose and treat asthma. He fits the treatment for the patient. He is a great and caring doctor. I recommend him to all who have been to other like doctors who treat asthma as a one size fits all treatment. We are individuals and here at Dr. Bacons your are treated as so and treatment is given for the utmost care of the individual as a whole not just an asthmatic. Thank you Dr. Bacon
