Dr. John Darrell Balazs JR., DO

We arrived early but didn't see doctor until 35 minutes after appointment time, and after staff called someone else with same first name. Came on referral but no one knew anything. Equipment didn't work. Other patients were complaining about appointments always being late and they make mistakes.

I've gone to Dr. Balasz quite a few years, after a referral by my then-primary care physician (we moved and now we go to a different PCP). He did two surgeries on my sinuses to help me stay healthier and he did a good job. I'm much healthier since my polyps were removed and breathe easier since my deviated septum was fixed. HOWEVER . . . as an allergist, he needs to update his knowledge. I've asked him for many years how to control my drainage. He asks if I'm taking my Mucinex and I say yes, and he says, "Fine." and that's it. I found out about Mucinex D on my own - it controls my drainage a lot better than the regular Mucinex. I have never had a blood test to see if my "assumed allergies" (due to reactions or side effects) to numerous medications were actually allergies, nor has he had other ideas to help with my drainage. I finally got annoyed enough to check ratings and then look for a doctor with multiple 5 star ratings. I found one in Tri-Health, Dr. Kelly Metz. One of the first… things she said was that I couldn't be allergic to one medicine because I am able to take this other medication with no problem. She did a blood test to check on some allergies, and she'll be doing more testing to find out what I'm really allergic to as opposed to what gives me sensitivities. She has also cut back on some of my medications and I'm still fine while on less medicine. Yay! Dr. Balasz is a very nice man but he really needs to update his knowledge base and also work on the wait time before people with appointments get seen.

Dr. Balazs is one of the most arrogant, cold, and uncaring doctors I've ever come in contact with. Not only did he not take the time to even say hello, he did not let me explain what was wrong. He very briefly checked my ears and proceeded to write a prescription for steroid cream and condescendingly explained what was wrong even though he had absolutely no clue. Then he sent me out the door. This visit was $75 out of pocket. I am still having significant trouble with my ears.

Dr Balazs stopped my bleeding after three hospital and several doctors couldn't.

I saw this doctor once and found that he took very little time asking about my sinus history. He was in a hurry, although he was 45 minutes late seeing me, and did not seem to hear my answers or care about the information that I gave him. He wanted to schedule a procedure right away. I will not go back.

I was asked if I had any problems. I indicated that I have had painful earache. First time, he used his "scope" to look in my ear and said, "I don't see anything". Went back next week for shots and told nurse what was said. Said that's not the instrument used and would have to go to Xenia. Went back recently with same symptoms. Used same instrument. Without any type of examination to find out what is causing the problem, asked me if I wanted him to put in a tube. Stated you cannot see pain. You cannot see pain but doctors usually try to find the cause of the pain. He never offered to do any further examination, especially with the proper instrument.

the worst experience i ever had with a dr. i was mis-diagnosed. he was very rude and did not follow up with me about my condition.

The greatest ENT in the states, in many people's opinion. I had a deviated septum surgery (the kind where they actually break it and reset it) performed without any bruising. Amazing. I feel wonderful!

We were treated with the upmost respect and geniune concern for our problem. You just need to ask questions, he was very willing to answer the questions. We found him to be very concerned about my husband's condition and even came to the hospital on a Saturday to check on him and do a procedure on him. We did have to wait at all our appts in the office, but I understand that he gets held up at the hospital at times. His diagnosis was correct and his recommendations for treatment were correct. So far, the followup has been good. He was talked of highly by the residence doctors at the hospital.
