Dr. John Wesley Barrington, MD

After extensive research, we decided to select Dr. Barrington as the surgeon for hip replacement surgery, and we are so glad we did. He is an outstanding surgeon with excellent skills and is extremely patient focused to ensure a good outcome. His protocols, based on his years of experience, are in place to help the patient fully recover successfully. Beyond his gifted skills, he has a highly trained and extremely caring group of support people. From his PA, to his exceptional physical therapy staff, to his scheduler, to the wonderful pre and post op nurses at the SurgiCenter of Plano, everyone is truly kind, trained, and wanting to help. It was amazing to witness. We highly recommend him and his team.

John Barrington is probably a reasonably good technician if you want a knee replacement from a high volume orthopedist. But if you are looking for a doctor who will listen to you, diagnose your problem accurately, and care for you as a person and a patient, look further. I saw Barrington in 2019 with pain and swelling in the outside of my left knee. He said a partial knee replacement on the inside of my knee (where I had no pain) would address my pain on the outside. After my surgery I asked if he had checked the outside of my knee. He said he did. At a follow-up appointment he dismissed the continuing pain in the outside of my knee but he couldn’t ignore the swelling that had become very pronounced by then. He said he didn’t know what could be causing it. End of conversation. He then politely ushered me out of his office. I was forced to find a doctor who cared. He ordered an MRI (Barrington never did) which clearly showed a ganglion cyst on the outside of my knee. By… that time its central mass had grown to almost 2 inches in diameter and its tentacles had wrapped around my peritoneal nerve and had penetrated my knee capsule in several places. Once removed, the pain that I’ve experienced for over 3 years disappeared. I have sent him a detailed letter describing all of this and I have attempted to see him. He has never responded to me. He told a surgeon who intervened with him on my behalf that he had done absolutely nothing wrong and there is no basis whatsoever to my complaints. I just wish he had the courage and courtesy to say that to my face.

My husband was told to be at the surgery center at 10:45am for a partial knee replacement surgery by Dr. Barrington. I took him on time. At 3pm I was notified he was just being taken into surgery. When Dr. Barrington called to say he had finished the surgery, I asked if he apologized to my husband for keeping him waiting 4 hours. He dismissed me, he denied the length of time he was late although the nurse called when he was being taken into surgery so I knew the correct time of start of surgery. If you expect to be treated with respect, find another Orthopedic Surgeon.

If you need hip replacement surgery, then look no further! Dr. John Barrington MD is world class in his expertise of hip replacement. Unbelievable results with little to no pain, and I am a sissy when it comes to pain. Extra Strength Tylenol is all I needed to take! His pre and post surgery protocol is strict, but so worth it. He has put together a “dream team” to take care of his patients. I have complete trust in this gifted caring surgeon, and I can’t wait for him to replace my other hip!

I had a knee replacement a year ago and could not be happier with the results. In fact, I would rate the whole process on a scale from 1-10 1 being the least satisfied 10 being the most satisfied My experience was a 10 ! Dr Barrington and his team are top notch. In fact , I wish I could give them something to grow on but they have done their best in every phase of my knee replacement. I had an excellent experience with my total knee replacement. Dr. Barrington's method from pre-op through follow-up was excellent. Very little pain and discomfort looking back on it. Leg is much straighter than before the surgery. Very pleased.

We saw Dr. Barrington yesterday to have my husband's limping issues checked. Dr. Barrington took his time to explain to us why my husband needs a hip replacement surgery right away. But what impressed me the most was how friendly he was and how he took his time to explain everything to us without rushing us. He also addressed Diet plans and all other lifestyle changes my husband needs to make before and after surgery. Thank you Dr. Barrington!!

There aren't words to adequately describe my appreciation, respect and gratitude to Dr Barrington. He repaired my broken hip and four months later he replaced my right shoulder. He explained the surgeries in great detail prior to each surgery and again to my husband and family afterwards. He is as honest as the day is long.
