Dr. John Batter, MD

This doctor operated on my dad who was 92 and had textbook lung cancer symptoms. Prior to surgery he and the lung doctor gave vastly different recommendations and not once were we able to talk to both doctors in the same room.. Batter's suggestion was to send my dad home! Neither doctor ever mentioned lung cancer or tested for it. I truly believe my dad's advanced age played a role in the incredibly poor care he received. Batter had a terrible bedside manner and was pretty detached and cold. There is no way I would recommend this guy to anyone but particularly not to the elderly. It's hard for me to fathom how both doctors misdiagnosed my dad.

Waited an hour past my appointment time. He had a very angry and hateful attitude. Was very disrespectful to me. I’m 80 years old and saw him regarding a possible cancerous mass in left lung

This man was the on call doctor for my father. Thank goodness he was not his surgeon. He was defensive and not able to answer simple questions we had. He had not bothered to even look at the X-rays taken - either day he was supposedly caring for my father. WORST bedside manner I’ve ever had the misfortune to see.

We are so thankful for Dr. Batter. My husband had quadruple bypass surgery a few years ago and is doing great. Our consultation with Dr. Batter was terrific. I asked all kinds of questions and he was so passionate about his profession that it made us feel so at ease. He is one of the few who does bypass while the heart is still beating and explained how he does that. His PA was wonderful and when asked how she harvested the veins, was very articulate on how she did that. Wonderful patient experience, wonderful outcome and we are thankful to Dr. Batter.

Dr. Batter replaced my Aortic Heart valve as well as one bypass. Professional, skilled and dedicated. If I would ever need further surgery I would not go to another Doctor.

My specialist told me I needed a double by pass when I came out of surgery was told he only did one. Then when I asked he was very short with me and got very defensive when I asked why.

I will never recover my mother dying after he operated on her. She died Oct. 26, 2012

My situation was like many, quickly upon me (I had less than 24 hours notice that I would be going into surgery) and the selection of a doctor was by medical recommendation. Dr. Batter has a dry personality and it meshed well with mine. I asked questions and he answered them fully. His staff is absolutely outstanding. I am very grateful to say that I am “Batter Better” following a quadruple bypass. It’s been 3.5 years now and with a change of diet and daily exercise I feel like I did back in college (55 at time of surgery). There may be many qualified thoracic surgeons out there but Dr. Batter did me a great job and I am very happy he added me to a very busy schedule that day. I would recommend him to anyone.

My experience with Dr. Batter and his staff were exceptional. Went in on a Wednesday and was in surgery 2 weeks later. He made me feel at ease for my surgery. My wife had called and spoke with his nurse and was reassured everything would be ok.
