Dr. John Gregory Bentley, MD

After seeing another spine specialist within the Duke system I requested a second opinion. Where the first specialist spent no time with me nor offered any explanations, Dr. Bentley was the exact opposite. Top notch! Dr. Bentley went through my MRI results with me frame by frame, giving me a through explanation of the results and what needed to be treated and why. His physical exam and testing was also thorough and made me wonder how the first specialist I saw could possibly have known what my problem was since she did none of this. Dr. Bentley was willing to answer every question I had and did so with warmth, explaining everything in a way that I could understand using the test results to back up his words. Given the acute state of my problem he made a phone call to the head of neurosurgery for the Duke Raleigh facility and had me an appointment with the surgeon twenty MINUTES later. I really can't say enough good things about Dr. Bentley. If I ever need a spine or pain… management specialist again he will be my first phone call.

I went to see Dr Bentley and had 2 injections. My allergy to IVP dye has always been an issue. The first injection went fine with minimal relief. So another one was scheduled. I reminded him about the allergies and he dismissed this information and used IVP dye anyway and when I broke out in a rash, I made a specific trip into show the RN and I received message on my machine that he couldn't help me...and I am still receiving bills for the 2 office visits that they scheduled after he dismissed me as a patient. I have called to discuss this with them on many occasions and they turned me over to a collection agency for 2 $30 fees.

Dr. Bentley is great. I have had several injections and I can honestly say that he is the best doctor so far. He is gentle and is so willing to explain what he is doing as he goes. That make me feel more comfortable and at ease.I highly recommend him if you are in need of pain management.
