Dr. John Shea Bess

J. Shea Bess, DDS
Dr. J. Shea Bess is a Utah native and loves the state. He was born and raised in the Salt Lake Valley and graduated from Bingham High School in 1991. He married a beautiful South Jordan girl in 1994. He attended the University of Utah and obtained a bachelor’s degree in medical biology. He then moved on to dental school at Loma Linda University in southern California. Loma Linda University is owned by the Seventh Day Adventist Church, and he enjoyed the people and appreciated their strong value system. Dr. Bess' first son was born while in dental school and he now has three great boys. They are his focus in life and he loves spending time with his wife and kids, especially outdoors!
Dr. Bess really enjoys practicing dentistry. While living on the east coast, he met a couple of dentists that loved what they did for work. This sparked his interest and has been a part of his life since. Dentistry provides the opportunity for him to work with his hands and with people. …Dr. Bess will regularly review the day ahead and feel excitement at the list of friends that he will see in his practice on any given day. He truly wants his patients to be his friends and know that he will do his very best to make their visit as pleasant as possible. He has had a fantastic team of people around him since the birth of Autumn Ridge Dental in February of 2003 and this continues today.
Service has always been a big part of Dr. Bess' life. His parents taught him this throughout his youth and he continues serving today. He volunteers his services at Donated Dental Services, and also serves at Give Kids A Smile to help underprivileged children with their dental needs. He serves his immediate community through various assignments with his church.
Dr. Bess spends 2-3 hours a week in the research and development department of Ultradent. This company is cutting-edge, and is always producing and manufacturing the next best thing in dentistry. His involvement started in January of 2003 and is a great way for him to stay a step ahead on the latest technology by playing a role in the research and development of many products that have not yet reached the dental community.
Dr. Bess has a goal to be happy and believes strongly that with the correct attitude, atmosphere, and people, something as dreaded as a root canal can be tolerable, and on occasion even fun. His greatest hope at work is that when his patients leave his office they feel like they have gone to see some friends!
