Dr. John Michael Bouras, MD

Dr. Bouras now practices at Houston Pain Centers near Memorial City in Houston. Part of my recommendations are based upon that facility's staff. Before you choose Dr. Bouras as your care provider, ask questions of him and the staff. How can he be reached directly during normal business hours (he will not come to the phone)? What is the phone number for billing his charges (it will be a different number than the office which is not answered and the voice mail has no indication of what business the phone number is related to)? How many patients do you book in one appointment slot (after 2 visits, both have begun over an hour after the appointment time)? What are your usual charge for office visits (after 2 office visits, our insurance has been billed over $3,000...for just talking and 2 prescriptions...yes, 2 visits...and the insurance is not paying over $1,800 of it)? Perhaps some of the charges are mistakes, but after several attempts at reaching his mysterious billing… number, it is difficult to tell. If you or someone you care for needs psychiatric care, you need a doctor and office staff that are competent and perform a service for a reasonable cost. Between the 1st and 2nd visit, we had adverse reactions to the medication and Dr Bouras refused to talk to me on the phone when I was attempting to find out if these were normal reactions. He recommended I go to the emergency room if symptoms (sleeplessness for several days) got worse. Really? Please, please do your homework before engaging with Dr. Bouras and Houston Pain Centers. Make sure they are a fit for your needs. Thankfully we found a wonderful $100 session psychiatrist who has competent, caring office staff who can promptly answer questions. I hope you do, too.

Thanks to Dr. Bouras I can now say that my life has taken a new positive turn. Everyone at his office was genuinely caring and the medical staff was very friendly and patient with me... and trust me that's no easy task!

Doc really made feel comfortable and allowed me to open up in ways I never knew I could. He recommended TMS treatment for my depression and it worked! No more pills or drugs, no more side effects. I'm just back to being me again!!

Have had two visits with Dr. Bouras and he is one of the kindest doctors I have ever met. Was recommended by a friend and I will recommend to others who need a psychiatrist who is easy to talk to. Did not seem rushed, like so many doctors are, and I felt he really listened and CARED about my issues.

Dr. Bouras spent an extraordinary amount of time diagnosing my condition and suggesting the best course of treatment. I never felt rushed during office visits and he really seemed interested in helping me overcome my issues. I would highly recommend him to anyone who has tried other options with little or no success.

I was extremely impressed with Dr.Bouras. He greeted me warmly as he entered his office and from that moment until the end of my visit, I felt that I had his complete attention. I explained what was going on with me and he asked thoughtful questions if he needed clarification. We agreed on a treatment plan and I will return in two weeks for Dr. Bouras to check my progress. I felt as if I was a partner in my medical care. Unfortunately, that has not always been the case with other doctors that I have seen.

Now in Houston at Houston Pain Center. Dr Bouras put me into the life-threating Serotion Syndrome. His nurse either did not relay messages or Dr Bouras did not care. Either way they could have cost me my life if I had not got to another doctor and got the help needed in time.
