Dr. John Bradford Bowden, MD

This doc has a nice bedside manner, so as we started in the exam I thought I was in good hands. He decently checked my scalp and face. Then when he reached my chest area, he waved his hand towards it and said "so everything's OK is this area?" and proceeded to skip over it and examine my arms. I was in shock. That is his job: to do a thorough check of my skin. All of it. That's why I am there. I've never had a dermatologist wave over an area like that. I have not gone back. I found someone who does a thorough exam, as it should be done.

Dr. Bowden appeared to not give much interest in my ailments. 1. Feedback to initial issue, pawned my aliment off to "guys don't lotion much", my reaction was shock. Apparently I fall in that category. I do lotion, multiple times daily, how dare you Dr. Bowden. 2. Issue, his reaction, "I don't know what that is", it could be.....what I suspected an "educated" guess. I walked about with a prescription and two small bottles of lotion and a useless spent copay. To this day, I am still feeling these ailments. I was informed, if I am still feeling these ailments, to call him for a referral for an allergy appointment. Oh, and the attendant, young male, was too busy yawning to pay attention. He took my picture. He too was not too impressive. I would not see this doctor again. The front desk guy was AWESOME though. He was very professional.

Dr. Bowden was on time, professional, explained why he chose the treatment he rendered, and personable. Much appreciated these days.

Dr. Bowden was thorough, warm, and professional. He is sensitive to cost concerns of his patients and is current with knowledge about the newest medications and potential side effects/reactions.

After several years of trying to get appointments with dermatologists, and having dermatologists retire, it is wonderful to be able to actually get an appointment when you need it! Dr. Bowden took my situation seriously and did not laugh it off as "nothing." He also looks toward the future and books appointments proactively. I really appreciated that, and recommend him highly.

Professional, good diagnosis and treatment. Explained diagnosis and treatment well. Good bedside manner. Satff very helpful. Only complaint is that his office is so busy it is sometimes difficult to get them on thr phone. They do call back though which is good.

I have called four times to follow up to make sure a pathology report was faxed to a plastic surgeon; I have asked them to call me when it has happened. That was 5 days ago, no one from the office every returns my call so I'm going to have to drive over to hand-carry my results. No human ever answers, just a lengthy voice mail. Please hire another phone person. This is not right.

I spent five or six years looking for a decent dermotologist in northern New Mexico (meanwhile traveling to New York to see one) and then Dr. Bowden arrived and Its a piece of good fortune he has come to Santa Fe. Dr. Bowden is expert at his specialty and I didn't get one "well let's not worry about it/let's keep an eye on it/it doesn't look like anything" out of his mouth. I got a callback on a biopsy as soon as results were in, I promptly got a follow up visit, and I got a prescription that works. I'm an old hand with dermatologists; I can testify he is good. I've seen others here that made me wonder if they'd gone to medical school. He also presented a great deal of patience and compassion. It is a blessing this capable doctor choose Santa Fe. Our skin gets fried here.
