Dr. John Paul Brennan, MD

It’s been over a year since being under the Brennan’s care and my husband and I still talk about how lucky we were to have had them. I unfortunately had a miscarriage with my first pregnancy and the empathy and compassion they had for us helped us through a difficult time. With my second pregnancy, they took excellent care of us and gave us the greatest gift of all time, our daughter. If you are looking for a knowledgeable and thoughtful doctor, I’d recommend Dr. Brennan and Jayce to anyone.

I just had my second child with Dr. Brennan and felt very fortunate to be under his care during such crazy times as COVID-19. Dr. Brennan and Jayce are handling patients during COVID-19 with such care and grace, keeping everyone safe and sane. My favorite thing about Dr. Brennan is that he will always be the one to deliver your baby (not like a standard OBGYN practice) and it always works out, even though I have extremely fast labors Dr.Brennan always knows when to rush to the hospital to get there just in time (e.g. last time his rushed from a black tie event and delivered by baby in a tux). Delivering at Lenox Hill with Dr. Brennan was great, the experience with the Lenox Hill nurses was amazing, and I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a doctor that will remain calm and be there for you when you need him!

I never write reviews but I feel compelled to warn women about this doctor. I'm pretty upset about my experience and can't imagine that I'm the only one that noticed all these negative things about Dr. Brennan and his office. I found this doctor based on online reviews. At first he seemed to be perfect, giving me his direct cellphone number in case I needed him for anything. He never rushed me but also seemed to be using the time to do all these tests on me. Deep into my pregnancy I started questioning all the tests he was ordering. Well he was very unhappy with my concern because he and his wife who is his assistant jumped up and lectured me on why they feel these tests are necessary. It was odd to me because I never had these tests with my first pregnancy and as far as I knew my 2nd pregnancy (with Dr. Brennan) was very healthy and normal. My insurance company also was puzzled by all these tests that were being ran through my insurance and advised me to question the doctor. I ended… up paying out of pocket for a lot of my visits. I also realized that they were scheduling me frequently during my first trimester. I felt like I was in his office every 2-3 weeks which didn't make any sense because again I didn't have any complications. Aside from all these unnecessary tests and frequent visits, I found Dr. Brennan to be short tempered if you questioned him about certain things he was doing or not doing. I also found it very odd that Dr. Brennan never cancelled an appointment on me. I wondered how he could see all his patients and deliver all those babies as a sole practitioner. I decided to leave his practice because the bills were piling up and when I asked his wife and office about the charges they had an excuse of they were not aware of these charges. I have to add that on my last visit I overheard Dr. Brennan yelling at someone in the exam room as I was walking to the restroom. This confirmed and justified that that his attitude and personality was not for me and shouldn't be for most. I had a lot of anxiety during my time with Dr. Brennan and when I finally left to another doctor I instantly felt calmer and saw a difference with how my new doctor carried out my visits. I will suggest being careful and smart when reading some of these reviews. Looking back now, some just seem very suspicious because they certainly do not align with Dr. Brennan and his office based on my experience.

Dr. Brennan is a wonderful doctor and terrific person. Whether you are expecting or are in need or a gynecologist, he’s just the best at what he does. He doesn’t treat his practice just as a business he truly cares about each patient he sees, which is hard to come by these days in the health care field. Yes he’s BUSY but when it comes time for your appointment he’s all yours. Going to a gynecologist can be intimidating but but not with Dr. Brennan.

Dr. Brennan is an amazing doctor and a wonderful person. Whether you are expecting or are in need of a gynecologist, he’s just the best. I needed extra care during my pregnancy and he was there every step of the way. Yes he’s busy but when it’s time for your appointment his attention is totally on you. Dr. Brennan does not treat his practice like a business, he actually truly cares about his patients which is something rarely seen in the health care world these days. Going to a gynecologist may not always be pleasant but seeing Dr. Brennan is. I wish there were more doctors out there like him.

Dr. Brennan was my OB for the first two trimesters. He is disorganized and overworked - as a sole practitioner he has his routines that he gets into, sonograms every visit, invasive at times, answers all the questions you may have.. but something is very off with this doctor... he misspoke on many occasions, his bathroom was very dirty/unsanitary and I overheard an argument happening between Dr Brennan and Jayce (his wife) in office about another patient. That is all it took for me to find a better OB that was incredible in comparison.

I don’t understand how this doctor has all these great reviews! He forces transvaginal sonograms at every visit. This is invasive and unnecessary especially if you are having a healthy pregnancy. Dr Brennan and his wife (who he claims is his nurse) will make you think they do all these extra test for your benefit and the health of your baby’s but it’s not true! They act like they care about you but they don’t! It’s an act to add more tests and bill your insurance. Also, Dr. Brennan is filthy! He never washes his hands and doesn’t ever wear gloves! He’s overworked! They will sell you on the fact that he’s a sole practitioner and that they NEVER take vacations. This is true but that’s not a good thing. How can he delivery all these babies and still make it back to open his office and take all his appts for the day? Well he bullied me into a csection when I was 8cm just so he can go open his office right before 11am and didn’t have to cancel his appointments. Believe it!! I had a very… traumatic experience with him and still suffer from PTSD due to him! He made very poor decision during my L&D. I regret every going to him. Please stay away from Dr Brennan and his office.

I been going to doctor brennan for 20 years he was recommended by my mother, to me he is the best doctor, he’s nice and knows everything , every time I had a problem he took care of it. I truly thrust my doctor, please don’t ever retire.

I’ve never posted an online review, but in this case, I feel compelled because I can’t keep this secret to myself. I’ve had so many doctors ( including “fancy” doctors with press write-ups who were highly recommended ) over the years so I don’t say this lightly, but Dr. Brennan is hands-down the best doctor I’ve ever had and I count my lucky stars every day that I found his practice and was able to have my first baby under his care. My entire experience was truly amazing including the care before, during, and also after. He is an excellent doctor—highly experienced and knowledgeable, but most importantly his bedside manner is the best and I felt at ease as a first-time mother. At the hospital, every time I went for my scans and during delivery, every doctor or nurse spoke glowingly of him. He was thorough, always explained things in a way we could understand, and in general took such good care of us. And the delivery was the best I could ever hope for, such a special experience in… large part due to Dr. Brennan. And it didn’t end once I had the baby—Dr. Brennan also has given the best postpartum care and was just as concerned with postpartum health. I had some pelvic floor prolapse after delivery and coincidentally, their office had just received a state of the art machine that deals with this. I literally just sat in it for 30 minutes at a time and am thrilled to report that everything is better than ever! And I haven’t even gotten started with Jais yet! Dr. Brennan’s wife and right-hand person was like a fairy godmother. She truly calmed my nerves with anything that came up and would spend so much time with us every visit to answer all of our questions, assuage our worries and just give us pearls of her golden wisdom. The amount of time they spend with every patient is just so rare nowadays, plus their warmth which makes it even more special. And Jais is so special! She makes you feel like you’re part of their family. I know this sounds strange to say, but I actually miss going in for checkups and seeing Dr. Brennan and Jais! My words can’t even capture how amazing this practice is. Best experience and we cannot recommend highly enough.

I cannot say enough about how amazing Dr. Brennan and Jayce are. I have never in my 35 years experienced such kind, compassionate, smart and dedicated medical professionals. From the first day of my pregnancy until now (8 weeks postpartum) I felt safe and well cared for. Every appointment they take the time to walk you through the ultrasound, any blood work that is being done, test results and answer any and all of your questions. This was my first pregnancy so I had a lot of questions and I never felt rushed during any of my appointments. From the first appointment they give you Dr. Brennan’s cell phone and tell you to call for anything which puts you at ease and it is amazing to know they are there for you. The best part is when you start going into labor you call his cell phone and he has you come to the office first. This way you do not trek up to Lenox Hill and get sent back home if you are not far enough along. I called at midnight, he answered right away, I was in his… office by 1am and he sent me to Lenox Hill. Upon arrival, they knew who I was as he had called ahead, had all of my test results and were ready. I was in labor for 26 hours and Dr. Brennan called to check up on me almost hourly. Once I started progressing, he was at the hospital with me, walking me through every step. Labor (especially the first time) can be scary but I felt so at ease and trusted him. Every nurse at the hospital raved about him too which was nice to hear! I ended up needing a C-section and he explained everything in details, made me feel so comfortable and did an incredible job. My scar is tiny (only 8 weeks postpartum) and you can barely see it! Dr. Brennan and Jayce are honestly the best and I will miss seeing them every other week!
