I had bypass surgery 4 years ago. I was scheduled to leave after 8 days. Fortunately, my ride to pick me up and leave was late or I most likely would have not have survived. Why they released me at the time I don’t know. . While I was waiting for my ride a PT asked me if I wanted to walk around the halls, so I did. It was difficult and I felt like I had something was wrong. She quickly dumped me in a chair in my my room snd I thought she was going to get me help she never returned. I looked down and saw my chest expand. I tried to find my hand button to call and finally found it. I called and was released that a nurse picked up…I said “something is terribly wrong.” Nurse came and I was examined quickly and was told Dr. Brown wasn’t in and Dr. Von Boxtel came in and said I needed to do have emergency surgery and was given forms to sign. 3 hours later I was operated on again. I woke up in surgery and experienced the pain of the operation. I survived and was told by Brown… it happened because I was given too much or the wrong blood thinners. Also they found 3 clots. I recovered but got a serious infection in my arm which I was treated and extended my stay even longer. . I recovered and finally was released and went home for a long difficult recovery. I still didn’t understand why this happened and called 6 months later. I was told Dr. Brown nicked my heart with the clamp during bypass surgery by his nurse practitioner.. I’m sorry all this happened and I am sure they are too. It’s a miracle I survived. During my recovery in the hospital I had a reaction one night that I thought was an anxiety attack and the nurse came in to the room and said she had given me the wrong medicine. There were many other mishaps that I can talk about. When Brown saw my chart the next day he was upset about what I was given, Incidentally, unknown to me at the time I have a neighbor who is a nurse in cardiac at Morristown and was told “there should be 3 patients for each nurse but at that time there were 7 patients for each nurse which is dangerous for the patients.”

Dr Brown replace my aortic valve with no after issues. Recovery process has been quicker than expected

Had it not been for Dr. Brown, I wouldn't be writing this. It doesn't get any better than him. The Best!!

Dr. Brown is truly the reason I'm alive. 5 years ago, he replaced my mitral valve. He is a skilled and excellent surgeon. Thank you.

This week I am 4 years out from my procedure in which Dr. Brown replaced my Aortic Valve and my Mitral Valve. I had no complications and was extremely satisfied with all aspects of my care.

John Brown is responsible for me being alive today, on 7-11-2014, he performed a triple bypass on me and the scar was beautiful and I turn 55 on Sept 4th. Thank you for letting me be able to continue living. This is the Best Doctor ever!!! Thank You!!

I was fortunate to have Dr. Brown operate (quadruple bypass) on me over 15 years ago - I was from out of town, just barely 40 and visiting family at the time. I was on my way to give a presentation in Boston when plans got miffed. Dr. Brown showed up in my hospital room and explained the procedure to me and my wife. He's steady, clear and professional--after that interaction I had no reservations about the procedure whatsoever. He's the doctor to ask for. I wish I could vote more than 5 stars, Dr. Brown exceeds and I congratulate him on an exemplary career.

I had my aortic valve replaced by Dr. Brown 20 years ago, and all is well after 20 years. I am currently an 80 year old in good health; playing golf 3 times a week, and going to our fitness center several times each week. Thanks so much to Dr. Brown.....truely a remarkable surgeon.

My husband recently had his 3rd Open Heart surgery with Dr. Brown. After surgery was in critical condition, but amazingly he made it through....Having been only 4 weeks since surgery, he is doing extremely well.
