Dr. John Buttram

I walked in for as he explained an minimum non invasive back surgery, the surgery went very wrong, I woke up with no feeling from the waist down and a paralyzed left leg, if u see this surgeon PLZ get a second opinion and make sure you get a cat scan and X-rays all he had on me was an MRI, he also did not use neuro monitoring. I was a highly active person and the last 2 yrs have been robbed from me due to this surgery he performed.

I suffered from a herniated disc at L4 and L5 for 16 months. After trying every other option, I agreed to have surgery. After researching surgeons who specialize in minimally invasive surgery, I chose Dr. Buttram. He and his team were wonderful, and I can walk 3 miles just over a month after surgery. It is wonderful to get my life back. I highly recommend Dr. Buttram and his team.

Dr. Buttram is a kind, compassionate doctor who performed surgery on me this year. I had suffered in terrible pain from a herniated disc for years and after the surgery I was able to go back to doing the things I enjoy. I would highly recommend him to anyone needing surgery. His staff are wonderful, caring people. You can tell they all truly care about the patients.

If Your Case isn't Interesting enough, or your case is old , He wont Jive you the time of day. He May be a good Surgeon, But He Is a lousy Doctor .

Very attentive and took his time listening to my concerns and answering both mine and my husbands questions. Very supportive and made me feel at ease about making decisions in the future about my healthcare.

Dr. Buttram did an emergency surgery on my husbands spine on a Saturday morning this past summer. For the first time in a few years, my husband is able to live actively and comfortably. He has been nothing but kind and honest since we first met him. A few weeks ago, he did surgery on my spine as well. I could not be more gratefully to him, Jessica, his P.A., Pam, his nurse, and Laura in the office as well.

He Put sum Bad Comments in my chart,( EFFECTIVELY BLACK LISTING ME ) And now i can't get help in NC so i now Have to go out of the State

Back in 2009 when my mom was diagnosed with brain cancer, we were shocked , scared and confused..Dr Buttram helped us understand and was very patient with my mom..I dont know if he remembers her but his bed side manner always made her smile..

Rex er referred me to dr buttram after a fall down a flight of stairs. I was told at Rex ER I had 2 broken vertebra in my back. This was on Friday night, I didn't get into see anyone until the following Wed. I saw the PA who came in and said she saw what looked like a chronic fracture in the lower part of my vertebra, but nothing else. My sister who was with me told her what the er said and she goes out and comes back and says oh yea I see it now and recommended I have a mri. which I did and once again it showed the fracture in the upper vertebra, this was done on sat a week after the fall. then they recommended I go to see the radiologist at wake re: a procedure. I had to call them several times to get the info sent to the radiologist and the girl at dr buttram's office told me she did not know how to send the referral request and had to have someone at the referring office to tell her how and it was still done incorrectly initially. All this time I can barely move and in a lot… of pain. it was over two weeks after the fall before I had my appt with the radiologist and no-one from dr buttram's office mentioned coming back to them and having a future x-ray or mri done to ensure proper healing. I was very unhappy with everything about my experience.

After I ruptured a disc in two places and landed in the ER at Rex, Dr. Buttram performed a laminectomy. He fully explained the situation pre- and post-op. I followed his post-op instructions to the letter and was virtually pain-free from the time I was released from the hospital. We patients have a role to play in our own recoveries after all. Dr. Buttram is an excellent neurosurgeon. He and his staff have excellent bedside manner and took the time to answer all of my many questions. I recommend Dr. Buttram in the most positive terms.
