A lifelong resident of the area, Dr John Capogna has been providing beautiful smiles to children and adults for over 20 years. He received his undergraduate degree from Brooklyn College of Pharmacy in 1981 and earned his DMD degree from Case Western University in 1985. In 1988 Dr. Capogna received his postdoctoral degree in Orthodontics from the prestigious University of Pennsylvania. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics, the highest honor attainable in the field.
Dr Capogna received numerous awards in dental school including the American College of Dentists Award of Achievement, the Dentsply Prosthodontic Award, and the Psi Omega Scholastic Achievement Award. He also received the American Association of Orthodontists Award, which is granted yearly to the senior student in each dental school, who has been judged by his Faculty to have demonstrated the most outstanding qualities in this area of study.
Dr. Capogna’s professional memberships …include the American Dental Association (ADA), the Nassau County Dental Society (NCDC), the American Association of Orthodontists (AAO), and the Northeast Society of Orthodontists (NESO). Dr. Capogna is also a member of the esteemed OKU Honorary Dental Society.
Dr. Capogna regularly attends continuing education seminars to remain current on the latest technologies and treatment techniques, and participates in orthodontic study clubs with colleagues from around the world. He believes that orthodontics is about much more than straightening teeth. Proper fit, alignment and function will help ensure a patient’s long-term health, as well as the beauty of a smile.
We understand that orthodontic treatment can be daunting for patients of any age, and Dr. Capogna will take the time to explain the process and help you or your child get through it with minimal inconvenience.
Dr. Capogna and his wife Patricia have three children. He is very active in the community by coaching, sponsoring and donating to the area schools, athletic teams and churches.
