Dr. John Robert Chaffee, MD

I only had the initial visit with Dr. Chaffee today. In the short time I was there I was very happy with the service I received. Dr. Chaffee and the staff at the UW Neighborhood Center were all very professional and helpful.

I had a traumatic birth experience with this doctor due to his poor judgement.

He is really a horrible person and doctor. He seems to pride himself on being rude, cold and condescending. One of the worst experiences I have ever had. The staff is pleasant, helpful and professional; unfortunately they can't compensate for what this doctor lacks. Don't waste your time; avoid him like the plague.

This doctor seems very competent but does not seem to like people. Doesn't seem to have the "care" part of Health Care in him. He rushed me through my appointment, was impatient with me while I processed the tehnical things he was saying. It seems like he should have been a surgeon, not in family practice.

I have seen Dr Chaffee for almost 3 years. He is very basic and does not want to prescribe much of anything. You must tell him what you want to try. I have heard good and bad stories about him. He was unable to take a case of mine and then later was told to take it from the director I assume. Former Military and excellent school background but falls flat on many issues that he should know

Most doctors have at least some bedside manner, an inherent empathy for their patient. Dr. Chaffee does not. He is stuffy, brusque, uncaring with little or no interest in anything you tell him concerning your health, pain, or state of being. If you are looking for a good doctor, look elsewhere.

Dr. C. is worth the 30 minute drive for our family! We can see another doctor 5 minutes from our home but would rather receive the attention and care from Dr. C. at his clinic in Federal Way! He delivered our son and I received the best maternal care from him! At my prenatel appointments he told me repetededly that he was wearing his pager and was waiting for me to deliver my child! When I did finally deliver my child, Dr. C. rushed at 5 am to the hospital! He said he ran all the way to my room and by judging him being out of breath I beleived him! The nurses at the hospital commented on how he is a true family doctor that cares for his patients. When hospital nurses comment on doctors you know they are truthful! We love Dr. C!

I found this doctor to be rude, arrogant, and condescending. I would NOT recommend him to anyone.

Always listens well. Well trained and careful.

Dr Chaffee is a good doctor who takes time to make a proper diagnosis with his patients instead of rushing you out the door with a prescription like so many are all about these days. Every time I've gone in to see him, I've felt like it's been time well spent to figure out what's wrong and take the proper steps to get better.
