Dr. John Chang

I would be very careful as the Office staff are probably the more unresponsive people I had to deal with. They happily respond when needing to get paid but when having to deal with other issues, they disappear quickly. ALSO do not use the facility Dr. chang recommended facility "Tampabay Endoscopy Center" in Tampa. They literally are incompetent from the people poking you for blood to the billing dept. Overall, find someone else.

Whatever you do, DO NOT go see Dr. Chang. I went to him after being referred by my primary for bleeding, bowel issues, and stomach pains and long story short... he did a colonoscopy and told me nothing showed up... fast forward to my new doctor after being dragged along by him for 6 MONTHS, the colonoscopy showed I had chron’s. He finally diagnosed me 6 months after my initial visit but only telling me I had it in one area- which turns out it’s in two areas. He also prescribed me a medication that didn’t even target the areas my chron’s are in. Such a horrible experience. Never answered questions and always rushed through visits with me. Office workers never returned calls or messages. Super unorganized and terrible place! I wouldn’t wish my worst enemy going to see him.

I had to look for a new gastroenterologist due to insurance change. Instead of going through my provider list, I started asking around because I know, word of mouths are much better than a list provided by the insurance. Dr. Chang came highly recommended by a couple of my co-workers. My visit to have my reflux looked at was a breeze. My co-pay to specialists are high and my deductible is high. Dr. Chang understands the costs of medications and did not go with the name brands. I feel comfortable and confident with his care.

I have put off visiting a gastroenterologist which I've been told for quite a while. I was glad that I did after seeing Dr. Chang. He is very knowledgeable and spent his time with me. My first appointment was not as dreadful as I thought!

I was recommended to see Dr. Chang by a family member and I must say, I am glad they referred me. I was able to get an appointment within the days and times I preferred and my condition was not as bad as I thought and Dr. Chang actually prevented more serious problems in the future so I was glad I went to see him.

Dr Chang is actually real nice but his staff.. the Dr wanted me to get an endoscopy at an out pt facility, which I'm sure I needed. I rushed me through the paper work without informing me first what my out of pocket expenses would be. I found out by inquiring with my health ins it would be $800. Although I said I want to wait and go through all of the papers in peace before confirming an actual appointment for the endoscopy, I still ended up getting a call to verify the appointment for the out pt facility. That was 1. ,2. After having a breath test and blood work done. I didnt get a call or nothing about the results. I called 2 weeks later and wanted to know what the results were, I was told I have to see the Dr to get the results. RR?? I figured they came back all negative. I ws told that if there are positive results I would be asked to come in. So you know what!! I'm done with this.. I picked up my lab results and switched Dr's.

I have been in to see Dr. Chang for the second time now. While I am happy with him as my doctor, I wish he would not allow his cell phone to ring and even if it's on silent, he should not answer it while he is seeing a patient. I pay a pretty hefty co-pay every time I come see him and if he just gives me his undivided attention as a patient, I would be very pleased. Otherwise, Dr. Chang is a great doctor.

The ease of making my first appointment and getting in to see the doctor was easier than I dreaded. I've called other gastro offices before I got to this office but was given such a hard time about getting in, etc.The wait was not as bad either...only about 15 minutes wait in the lobby.

Wish more doctor's offices are like this one. The staff and the doctors whom I have dealt with are nice and understanding. My doctor referred me here and I am glad they did.

I have been calling around for a GI in network with my insurance and the first few I called were not interested in getting me in as quickly as I wanted. Dr. Chang's office staff got me in the very next day after I explained to them my insurance situation. They called and got all my benefits verified and within a week, I got my procedure done just in time before my insurance terminated. I appreciated them going above and beyond for me.
