Dr. John Charles treats adults and adolescents with psychiatric problems, provides office and inpatient care, responds to and manages referrals from area hospital emergency departments and local/regional physician clinics, provides psychiatric care through the City-Wide Call process. Dr. Charles is board certified in General Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Prior to joining Bellin Psychiatric Center, Dr. Charles was in private practice in the Phoenix Metro area and also provided psychiatric services to adults, adolescents, and children in a rural setting in Globe, Arizona. , he has pursued an interest in homeopathic medicine and is licensed in Arizona as a Homeopathic Physician. Dr. Charles is originally from Green Bay, Wisconsin. He completed his college studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison where he met his wife, Lisa. They have three children. Dr. Charles is an avid sports fan and enjoys studying philosophy and comparative religion.

I have been a patient for several years and have found him to be very knowledgeable. He seems friendly and concerned. Sometimes I Think that he may prescribe too many medications. That is the only negative for me.

Dr Charles is an excellent doctor, listens to you, thoughtful and understanding, treats the whole person, Highly recommended by others and myself.

1st Dr. to actually DX me correctly (I think at least) & tried me on many different meds. Problem is I just have a very sensitive system (allot of medical issues as well & NO not an attention getter all been diagnosed) that I know it seemed to him I wasn't listening to him etc. especially after a good 6 years of going to him off & on due to insurance issues but seemed to always go back. I do think he really tried to help but just as I did got very frustrated after a while. He is usually always on time, listens to you, makes appt. time for you if you really need to get in, the nurses call you back the same day, & most people will really like him. I just started feeling like I saw him more than my own family/friends etc. Every 4 weeks for 30 min. is allot & you both get sick of each other ya know? It was/is just time to MOVE on. Sucks trying to find another provider but it will only benefit me I really think...I do recommend him though.
