Dr. John Taofan Chen, MD

I had been diagnosed with PN (idiopathic peripheral neuropathy) prior to seeing Dr. Chen I had numbness in both feet and bowel issues and pain in my back. I didn't want to take drugs and really wanted to get to the bottom of why this was happening. He treated me as if I were a hypochondriac. Would not do additional testing and when I asked for an MRI, he condescendingly said, "what for?" I thought (incorrectly now) maybe I had an autoimmune disease. He refused to give me a test I asked for and seemed unconcerned when my blood tests showed too much B12. Now, a year later, with the pain increasing and currently living in New Jersey, I went to a neurosurgeon who upon me telling him about the PN, said, Why do you have that? Are you diabetic? No, says I. He says, you need an MRI. Finally! Turns out the PN is not what I have after all and the Noel issues and all of my passing and numbness have been caused by two herniated discs and severe Cervical Myelopathy. Untreated, it can cause… permanent nerve damage or paralysis. After seeing an orthopedist and seeking other opinions, it is clear I have no option but surgery. Dr. Chen had no interest in finding out what was truly wrong with me and was mean and condescending about it as well. I filled a complaint against him with Kaiser but nothing was done. I am so glad I found Dr Rosenblum in New Jersey. Stay away from Dr John Chen if you value your health.
