Dr. John Harold Clancy, DO

He is dismissive and thinks he knows everything, even when he clearly does not. This guy should NOT be a doctor.

I went to Dr Clancy for about a year back in 2018 and am just now getting to write a review because, thankfully, I moved to another city and have a doctor who knows what they’re doing and I’m no longer suffering from anxiety and depression. I was suffering a lot and I basically had to beg Dr Clancy while crying in the office to try me on an antidepressant. I couldn’t eat because of my anxiety and had lost an unhealthy amount of weight quickly. Was also very depressed and had never been on an antidepressant before in my life but knew I had to do something because I was miserable. When I explained this to Dr Clancy, he had no compassion and told me to ‘go for a run everyday to clear my head.’ And used it as an opportunity to brag about his own running routine. He also said “what does a young, beautiful girl like you need to be so anxious about.” Little did he know that I had been sexually abused as a child and went through years of emotional abuse as well and was in a very hard… transition in my life at that time. After the ONE antidepressant that he begrudgingly put me on didn’t work, he told me that I probably just wasn’t a good candidate for antidepressants. After educating myself and seeing other doctors who have knowledge on mental health, I’ve learned it is common to try multiple different antidepressants before finding the right one for your body chemistry. With the right medication and talk therapy, I feel so thankful to have reached a point of being happy and stable again, able to regain the weight that I lost and am moving forward with my life and have even come off the medication. I knew I needed to write this review for anyone suffering from mental health challenges - find a doctor who is compassionate and knows what they’re doing. Dr. Clancy might be good for other things, but treating people struggling mentally and emotionally is definitely not one of them.

Hi, I have visited Dr John Clancy for last a few years. The Dr Clancy has provided me the excellent health care treatments. He has experiences and knowledge. The Dr clinic staffs are great specially Ms Sam who has always helped me even with the paper works. She is awesome and one of the best of the best clinic's staff that I have ever seen. Ms Sam knows about her job very well and treated me & my family as her own family member. I really very glad to be Dr John Clancy patient and I highly recommend him to everyone to get the excellent health care needs. Thank you so much to Dr Clancy and his professional team. Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. There are days where he would be cordial and willing to help, and then there were days where it seems he has a vendetta against the world and takes it out on you. He has a bad 'bedside manner', and very little if any compassion. And if you dare say another doctor disagrees with what he says be prepared to be quickly dismissed because he knows all. Better than every specialist. I hope you don't have any questions. He doesn't like questions. So while everyone else in his office is very nice and kind, I WOULD NOT, I CANNOT recommend him to anyone. Pros: His staff is very friendly. Quick appointments. On-time appointments. Cons: The man whose name is on the building - Dr. John Clancy.

Dr. John is completely checked out! It's as if his brain is on autopilot. If you want someone who cares about what you are going through and will try to figure out a treatment path, he is NOT your guy! On top of that, he can't seem to keep staff. Not sure what is going on there, but the office is a mess...and the assistants they keep hiring are completely clueless. Totally frustrating on all levels.

When I first came to Dr. John, I was a mess. I was diabetic, but couldn't get my meds right. Resulting in massive infections and very sick. He switched me off insulin and on to Victoza. Instant change. He added and removed meds here and there and its been 2 years, I feel great. This is not your average doctors office. The people here are genuine. I found this office when my special needs uncle came for an appt that I accompanied him on. Now I see Dr. John, my dad sees him, my husband sees him, my uncle and soon, my mom. Dr. John spends as much time as needed and makes you feel very well cared for. Thank you to the Clancy team!

I visited Dr. Clancy after relocating from across the country... and I knew that getting settled with doctors would probably be a challenge. Sure enough, I hit quite a few roadblocks and it has taken an emotional toll... But Dr. Clancy (and his staff) have been exceptionally supportive and helpful in getting records, referrals, tests, etc. He is very personable, easy to talk to, and he really seems to be passionate about his work. I'm just happy that he seems to be pretty young, so I don't expect he'll retire anytime soon! The office is in a great location with lots of parking, in a plaza with various other adjacent medical offices. Based on my experience thus far, I'd highly recommend Dr. Clancy if he is an option for you.

Dr. Clancy is great! He’s been a thorough and attentive doctor for all my health concerns. He has also given me great referrals to specialist.

Second time seeing Dr. Clancy and I think he's a terrific guy. DuPage Internal Medicine is a very cold place. The associates are cordial, but everything there is very fast and efficient, and there's no small talk. So, don't expect much, if any, conversation, as they will treat the issue, give you a prescription and leave. Both appointments have been 10 minutes or less. Pretty sure this is how medicine and doctors will be going forward. With reimbursements/Medicaid, etc. they need to churn patients to make money. I would have no problem recommending Dr. Clancy.
