Dr. John Douglas Clark, MD

My experience with Dr. John Clark was one of the most alarming and unprofessional medical encounters I have ever had. During my first appointment, he entered the room without greeting me, acknowledging my presence, or introducing himself. He walked straight to the computer, sat down with his back turned to me, and began asking questions while continuing to face away. There was no eye contact, no basic courtesy, and absolutely no attempt to create a professional or respectful patient interaction. This was not a one-time occurrence. The exact same behavior happened again during my second visit. His demeanor was cold, dismissive, and arrogant to the point that I felt intimidated and uncomfortable asking questions about my own health. I even told his nurse that I felt afraid to speak up because of how he made me feel. Patients trust physicians with their wellbeing and deserve to be treated with dignity, respect, and professionalism. The South Carolina Board of Medical Examiners outlines… expectations for physicians to maintain professional conduct and respectful communication with patients. What I experienced was the complete opposite of those standards. As a patient of color, the interaction raised serious concerns for me. I cannot speak for how he treats other patients, but based on my experience I would strongly caution others before seeking care from him. No patient should leave a medical appointment feeling ignored, anxious, and intimidated. Healthcare providers who lack basic respect for their patients should not be in positions responsible for patient care. I will not be returning, and I will be considering filing a formal complaint with the South Carolina Board of Medical Examiners regarding this experience.

First time visit today, Straight to the point, professional, I trust him,

He is the rudest, most disrespectful, and overall, uncaring doctor I have ever encountered. I saw him 4 times over the course of 6 months in pursuit of my diagnosis of sleep apnea and every single time, he asked me the exact same questions and did not seem to even look at my chart to see why I was there. He never had my readings from sleep studies readily available and when he got them from his team, he just read the printouts to me, with little to no explanation. He didn't ask me if I had any questions and when I tried to ask him questions about the next steps in the process or what issues I should look out for in the future, he got angry and dismissive and actually walked out of the room. I wouldn't recommend this doctor to my worst enemies.

Staff was unfriendly and after meeting doctor I see where they get it from. No eye contact, did not explain anything and constantly interrupting me as soon as I started answering his questions. Didn’t seem to want to hear about what I was experiencing. I got more out of my test result by reading them myself than what he would explain. Never wasting my time with this guy again.

Do NOT go see this doctor. My Grandmother has multiple health issues, so she sees many doctors, and this is by far her worst one. We did not pick him, her last doctor left and Dr Clark was assigned to her. If she survives this latest round, we will be changing doctors.

While I was in Spartanburg Regional Medical Center Dr Clark was one of the doctors that was called in . He is a vary fair man and he tells you what your best choice is for your treatment. All his staff is easy to talk with and Dr. Clark is easy to talk with about any questions you may have.
