Dr. John Vernon Coon

Coon (I will not even honor the man with Dr) was very short, denied my symptoms. Little did he know he was the third surgical opinion I obtained. The other two surgeons stated I need at least one, if not a two level fusion and stated the MRI showed considerable damage. Coon questioned my condition and played down my pain as if he didn't have the time to help me. He even went as far as stating that he didn't think my pain was as serious as I explained and so he decided to order a EMG. I will not be going back .

Dr. Coon did surgery in 2007 and I could not ask for a better Dr. A few complications, not because of him but overall I am satisfied. He spent time with me and was very concerned about every question I had. Would I recomend him, absolutely.

After experiencing excruciating pain in my neck, arms, and hands an MRI indicated that I had two herniated discs in my neck. After trying the pain management approach, the first neurosurgeon that I saw told me there was nothing he could do for me. So, I went to Dr. Coon for a second opinion. I was in so much pain that I didn't care if I lived. Dr. Coon asked me why I was there to see him when another doctor had already told me that there was nothing that could be done. I told him that I wanted a second opinion. His exact words to me were "My opinion is that you need to learn to live with it". Then he left the room without saying another word, leaving me there not knowing if he was coming back. I eventually went to the front desk where I was told that he was through with me! Ultimately, I found a physician who did further testing and performed surgery that has corrected the problem.

I went there hoping he could tell me he could help me with my pain after an appointment had been made by my dr. His nurse was very nice and I thought, he will be a nice dr. He came into the room and if I had not gotten up and stuck my hand out, he would have not even shook my hand.He was with me about 5 mins or less. I think he did not care and did not get past one part of the tests that I took with me.I have been in pain for nearly 20 years and I thought this was the answer. I have been to several specialists and no help. We drove 100 miles to see him only to turn around and feel hopeless again!I believe if you are going to be a dr. and even if you cannot help someone, could you please be nice about it and try to line them up with someone who can! Could you at least, care????I am sorry we made that trip. I seriously have bad pain that no one seems to understand! It flattens me out and sometimes I pass out from the pain being so bad.I have looked up all of the 4 bulging discs… and the narrowing spine and it all deals with nerves compressed by disc. This doctor needs to retire!I rest my case.

Long wait and no answers!

I am very satisfied with every aspect of Dr. Coon he took great care of me very fast and professional always checking on me and my status. I can not say enough to express my appreciation to him, his medical team and staff they were wonderful.It has been one year and a half since my surgery and I am almost normal, just having problems with a pinched nerve in my back that affects my left leg. Bless you Dr. Coon for what you did for me.

After waiting over 2 hours in the waiting room, I had a brief visit with the doctor. He was very rude and wouldn't answer any of my questions. I know there are other doctors in the same practice that are excellent and the overall staff were very nice.
