Dr. John Patrick Coughlin, MD

Dr. Coughlin is our hero! After 5 other doctors and a year of pain, in 5 minutes Dr. Coughlin found our daughter had an umbilical hernia. It is repaired and our daughter is better, and is back to running! When all hope was lost, we finally found him! He is a God Send!

DR. COUGHLIN IS OUR HERO! Our daughter has always been a gifted runner. Loved running, always has run, until suddenly she began getting intermittent pain. It began as intermittent and worsened over a years’ time. It was thought to be gas, then constipation. When the Pediatrician had nothing more to say about what was going on we proceeded to see a G.I. Doctor who just wanted to dose her with Miralax. Went to a 2nd G.I. Doctor and he said this is not a G.I. issue, he suggested to see a Sports Medicine doctor. Saw the Sports Medicine doctor and he suggests us to see a Gynecologist and a Pediatric Surgeon. Saw Gynecologist-nothing. 5th doctor after a year of trying to figure this out, Lo and behold Dr. Coughlin figures out in FIVE MINUTES that she has an Umbilical Hernia. Most knowledgeable and compassionate physician, I’ve ever met. Can’t thank Dr. Coughlin and his amazing team enough for everything! He truly cares for not only each and every one of his patients medical needs, but also their wellbeing. Wouldn’t chose any other surgeon.

My son was coming in for a circumcision and I was so nervous. When I got their the staff were very friendly and caring. When I met Dr. Coughlin he can tell how nervous I was. He completely understood and explained everything to me and answered all my questions. After my son had the procedure he was a few days in pain but everything went very well. He took the wrapping off and everything looked great. I was happy with how great and patient he was with my son. I would definitely recommend Dr. Coughlin to all my friends and family. I took my son for his appointment, pulled him out of school and drove for an hour. The support staff ran my insurance while I was on the phone making the appointment. Told me I would need to make a small copay. Then at the office, they back peddled and told me it was not accepted, if I wanted my child to see the doctor I could pay cash. Bait and switch or just disorganized and untrained?

Literally will see you for 2 mins and tell you to come back in for another appointment just to see her for another 2 mins. Worst person ever intimidates patient and talked down on me. Made me drive all the way to Tampa and hour away just to say he’ll see her Monday in Lakeland for another 2 mins no forget that I’m switching doctors he doesn’t explain what he is doing in surgery well and just pushes his way thru it. Worst doctor ever ! Told me to come to tampa so he can drain fluid from area on my 2 year old daughter didn’t do it. Said put ice on it. I said she’s small and doesn’t Bc it hurts her.then goes to ask me how old she is I answered 2 and then went to ask me how old I am I said 21 so he said exactly your the adult her do your job. Like what kind of doctor speaks to patients that way ?! NEVER AGAIN

I personally felt bullied. Being a 17 yr. Old girl who is over weight he really did bully me. When my wound opened back up he told me it was my fault when it wasn't at all . he's heartless. Maybe for a skinny child but not for big children he will make you cry and just feel so crappy about yourself his nurses were friendly and amazingly nice just not him .
