Dr. John Patrick Donohue, DO

just now If I could give zero stars it would be a more appropriate score. I had high hopes for a rheumatologist at the Cleveland Clinic and traveled a long distance to come see him for a second opinion. When I met with him for my appointment he seemed to already have made up his mind about me and my diagnosis. He stated that it was impossible for me to have a disease that albeit is rare at my age. Worse, this impossibility he attributed to his lack of personal experience- since he hasn't seen it in 30 years it must not exist! It was clear he was not looking through an objective or scientific lens. He did not even spend one moment examining me. He sat in a chair across the exam room and lectured me. He treated me like I had the audacity to ask him to do his job. Whatever questions I had that couldn't be dismissed were ignored. His bedside manner is atrocious. I'm not really sure who he is giving good care to or the people out there that are giving him great or even good… reviews. I can imagine this man can only treat uncomplicated and straightforward cases since he has no insight, imagination, scientific perspective or critical thinking skills- not to mention a complete lack of personality. I'm pretty sure his ego is wrapped up more in the status symbol of playing pretend doctor rather than actually being one. I urge you to go elsewhere, you will be disappointed as I surely was.

I've been going to Dr Donohue for 3+ years now for ongoing RA care & treatment. He is knowledgeable, professional and has a great "bedside manner" which I find very helpful. His nurse Gloria is also fantastic! I see them every 3 months and get a thorough exam each visit, I never feel like I'm getting rushed out the door no matter how busy they are (and they are usually very busy). Most important of all, my blood work is the best it's been in many years - I've had RA for 15 years now and it's gotten progressively worse over time. Under Dr Donohue's care I feel better than I have in years.

Really bad experience. He did not really give me the time of day, and I am convinced he tried to get me to cancel my appointment because I was the only appt of the day. He told me I did not have arthritis presently based of lab results (though I have been previously diagnosed) and said that my inflammation and pain could be anything, without explaining what that anything was. Of course, I got a second opinion who acknowledges that my arthritis is present and is now treating me. I cannot believe this man is with Cleveland Clinic.

I travel over 200 miles to see this physician. His office staff anf the doctor himself take time listening to me. I never wait in the office. I am very lucky to have him as my doctor. If you look at his credentials they are the best I could find of any Rheumatologist in Florida. I have a chronic condition and know he will be there for me for years to come and am thankful for that.
