Dr. John Martin Downey, DO

Dr Downney was my pain Dr for over a year. Not sure what happened between the people upstairs. And the the drug store. But got a letter a week before my next appointment and a refill of my meds. I get a discharge letter saying he is no longer my Dr. . How can a Dr just throw you out knowing you don't have another Dr. And want give a referral to help you find one. So needless to say all my pain is back. And have no medicine. He was the only Dr. Prescribing my meds what do I do now what did I do wrong. Never had any problems before.

Unless you have an obvious bone fracture on a outdated x-ray machine, he wants to send you for a MRI and see you in 6 weeks. He could care less that you are in Pain.

I have been a patient for nearly 10 yrs. My problem can't be"fixed", but they do whatever needs to be done to alleviate the pain.

From the front staff when checking in to the back seeing the Doctor , his PA's, X-ray Texh and back to the check out ladies are wonderful!! Everyone is spectacular, have NEVER been in a physicians office and received the best treatment possible until now!! (My DX is still being treated so not sure of the specifics yet, but he is definitely heading in the right direction)

Dr. Downey is the first and only doctor (of many) in the 20 years I've suffered with my condition to actually DIAGNOSE my condition. Also, turns out a simple x-ray revealed my other, separate condition--a test no previous doctor had thought to do. His accurate diagnoses helped establish the best treatment plan. He is compassionate, knowledgeable, and highly professional. His office runs smoothly, so even his staff work hard to help me live as pain-free as possible. He is truly a God-send, and I selfishly pray he never retires.

Dr.downy is a remarkable doctor when no doctor would listen to me Dr.downy found I had a pitched nerve in my two disc.he gave me pain medicine and physical therapy and it helped me deal with my issue. I have been seeing him for all my pain needs and he has helped me and if you want a great doctor with bedside manner who will treat you right then see Dr.downy.

I had been seeing Dr. Downey for about 2 years. During this time I always felt that he never really listened to me as I spoke about my pain and new symptoms that surfaced. He seemed to only concerned himself with if you needed refills on prescriptions or injections. Now, why would a Fibromyalgia patient need injections and why would a doctor recommend them to such a patient? Hmm? However, his physician assistant was excellent! She had me try new drugs to help better manage my pain and referred me to other specialist for further evaluation for new symptoms. My insurance refused to pay a portion of my procedure and Dr. Downey asked me to pay this $800 balance at an appt. I told him that I just didn't have that type of money right then. He immediately dismissed me as a patient, right there on the spot. One of his staff member told me that he felt that I would not be able to pay this balance in a timely manner and therefor I would need to look for another doctor. He refused to give me any… refills on my prescriptions for pain meds or give me a letter (that I previously requested) I needed for disability. After two weeks of calling and begging, he finally agreed to writing refill prescriptions if I gave him $75 and another $75 for the letter. Well, I could only afford one at the time. So, I went with the pain meds; of course! When I asked if the $75 would be applied to my balanced I was told No! I could not believe it. I mean seriously! What doctor charges for prescriptions? This doctor doesn't care about his patients, he only cares about how big his pockets gets!

I have been a patient of his for nearly ten years. I truly feel that if it were not for Dr Downey's expertise, caring nature, and diagnosis and treatment of my disease, I strongly feel that I would not be alive today! I had worked in the medical field for 25 years and in all that time, I have never met a more caring and competent Pysician! If you are suffering from pain, This is the Dr that you need to see! I have Highly recommended him to many family and friends with Total confidence! In my opinion, in this field of Medicine, He is the Best there is and I feel extremely Blessed to have him in my corner!

Felt very rushed. I was crying in pain from ruptured disc in my back & he didn't seem concerned about giving me anything to help the pain. isn't that what a PAIN MANAGEMENT doctor is for? to help MANAGE your PAIN? the office staff is very nice but dr.downey seems like he just has too many patients. he never remembers me, even though I've been a patient for over a year! he totally relies on exactly what the chart says. if you need something for pain i guess you have to come right out & ask for it. he hands out prescriptions of anti inflammatory & steroid drugs with ease but when it comes to what you actually need, you're SOL.
