I had 5 implants, all failed. Engels and his associate didn't deal with my infection. I was on antibiotics for more than 3 years and went to countless doctors for answers. Finally, the only people that helped me were a couple of biological holistic dentists who cleaned out the infected dead bone.

Dr. Engel and his staff are professional, courteous and compassionate! I highly recommend him should anyone find they are in need of an oral surgeon.

I went in for a consultation this morning and was greeted by a very friendly and courteous staff. This continued throughout my visit including Dr. Engel. He spent time with me to explain my options and answer any questions. I never once felt he (nor anyone else) was rude, unprofessional nor rushed so I made the appointment for an extraction in a couple of weeks. Since I am very nervous about the procedure - it was of utmost importance to me to feel comfortable and have trust in the doctor - when I left the office, that is exactly how I felt. I did not rate accurate diagnosis nor follow up after visit as my diagnosis was made by my dentist and endodontist, and I was only in for consultation and not to have the procedure performed at this appointment.

This doctor is horrible. His staff is nice. He has the worst bedside manner ever ever. I feel bad for his staff he was rude to the nurse in the room with him. Needless to say I went and got a second opinion elsewhere because if a doctor treats his staff rudely I can only imagine how he treats his patients while under sedation.

In a nutshell I had a tooth pulled.I was awake during procedure when he exclaimed "Oh S- -T! ". Not what you want to hear. He never said what happened, but I discovered after a couple hours at home. I suddenly had horrific pain and called his office, was told to take Tylenol! I threatened to go to emergency room and they had me come in. I was white as a sheet and two nurses rushed me back to room. Doctor came in, as I was drenched in sweat from pain. He gave me a shot of novacaine or whatever it is and pain went away. I asked if this was "normal" and he said "No." He cut stitches and blood spurted everywhere. About this time the nurse said that the color of my hair or taking aspirin might have caused excessive bleeding! I felt like I was being blamed! Ultimately discovered that nerve had been cut,damaged, something, because I have about 30% sensation of feeling from where my lower jaw runs from below my left side of mouth up to where jaw connects with upper portion of upper teeth.… When touched, it feels as though I am touching someone else's face in that area. I brought it up with doctor in follow up visit and he blew it off like it was nothing. I know it was from something that happened during removal and would have been okay had he just said "well, sometimes when pulling a tooth a nerve can be damaged." THAT I would have understood. Instead they tried to make it a "dry socket" and it wasn't. He then told me a microsurgeon would have to fix it if sensation didn't come back, I would have appreciated an honest answer instead of being lied to. One other thing. Was asked history regarding medicines, alcohol use, etc. I was honest and said I had tried marijuana 40 years ago but not since then. The nurse or whatever she was, told me not to smoke any marijuana a week before the surgery! I told her "that was 40 years ago!" She totally disregarded me and repeated herself. I should have known then to cancel the whole thing, but didn't. So now I have permanent nerve damage, was never apologized or explained to, made to feel it was my fault AND that I am a drug user as well. I would run, not walk, run from this office in the future.
