Dr. John Arthur Fabre, MD

Drw smith and Fabre cared for me in the early '80s and up through the '90s I had a rare congenital optic nerve issue originally diagnosed as optic nerve hypoplasia and I found out years later it actually septo optic dysplasia but even when I was a small child and they took care of me they always did the best they could never had a bad word to say about either one of them

I went to the office of Dr Fabre and Dr Smith for a eye exam for my 16 month old. I don't know which of the two examined her, since they did not introduce themselves. They made us wait for 2 hours. He was so unkind and very impatient and also VERY rough. She left there with light bruising and scratches under both her eyes from him trying to pry her eyes open for a HALF HOUR. He did NOT try to get her attention, he did not try to speak to her kindly. He said many times "OH COME ON!" in a very exasperated tone. He handled her very roughly both physically and verbally. He told me repeatedly that I had a very stubborn child. Anyone who waits for 2 hours would not be happy, let alone a 16 month old who was tired and hungry after 2 hours of nothing. He may be a good dr for adults, but he is NOT a good toddler dr! It was a very traumatising experience for us both. I was very offended by him and would NOT recommend him to ANY parent of a child who needed an eye exam.
