Dr. John Joseph Fahey, MD

I have followed Dr Fahey since I was 17. I have rheumatoid and fibromyalgia. He has always been a caring doctor getting me whatever I need. He never has made the final decisions always goes with my decisions. I have recommended him to my co workers. He always listens and is very caring. I would highly recommend him.

I had been seeing Dr Fahey for a number of years. He kept me on the same medication regimen. When I had no improvement, in fact my feet had become much more painful, he stated he couldn't help me. I finally was referred to another rheumatologist who was surprised that Dr Fahey had never tried me on anything but Humira.

Terrible bedside manner. No doctor should ever say to a new patient "you're never going to get any better". Having given him the benefit of the doubt after a subpar first encounter that I had to wait 6 months for, I was appalled to find he was even worse at a second encounter. Showed incredibly outdated approach to practice. No knowledge of recent (within the last decade) advances in the field. Disrespectful. Does not listen. Perfunctory exam. Ordered useless labs to be repeated every 2-3 months. Go to anyone else.

He did not ask about my current status, and he based his diagnosis primarily on doctor referral. He spent much of his time reviewing my file. When I asked questions of current symptoms, he said we'd get to that, but he never did. I don't feel he considered differential diagnoses. He had his mind made up before he examined me even though there was one test result that was confounding.
