Dr. John Fernandes

Find another specialist. The front desk staff is incredibly rude & this Doctor only cares about money. He will push you to come in as much/ as often as he can (I was high risk with no issues, not even one abnormal ultrasound but was pushed to come weekly or biweekly). In 2920 peak covid. He then not only sent me to collections for a 1200 deductible, sought 30% collections on top and tried to file suit. Not cool- and not a great person. Mind you I had insurance so it’s not like he didn’t get paid.

I’ve been taking my daughter to Dr Fernandes since she was a fetus, 7 years ago! He is always kind, compassionate & direct with his care. His office is easy to communicate with and ALWAYS runs ontime. As a physician myself I understand what an amazing feat that is. I highly recomnendDr Fernandes.

We came here after few opinions about our baby's heart diagnosis , and were at the Childrens hospitals in NY and Philadelphia.We asked the specialists there who they would advise for care closer to our home, and they each spoke highly of Dr Fernandes. The other doc in Livingston seemed nice, but quite a bit of show and tell. When we met Dr Fernandes, we knew who we could trust to look out for our best interests.Keeping our hopes and prayers up that all will go well.

Dr Fernandes has been a very cautious and thorough Childrens Cardiologist, and an amazing resource and help to our family for these past years, and has been there for us in NJ, and with us while at procedures at Columbia/ Childrens Hospital.The whole team in NY really respect his expertise and opinion, so we feel very safe and in good hands.

This is in reply to the prior post--though Anonymous , we very well know who it is, as we only very rarely deal with such unsavory types.. We guess the question is: how does one "talk" to a disruptive, non focused and behavior disordered person?Sure, blame the Doc and office staff for anything that doesnt suit your whims and dour behavior. As a result of this ,the office will no longer offer such screenings, and limit our Facility to managing complex Fetal and Pediatric cardiac issues !! Office Administration

Glad we came across Dr F--had been to two other centers in the area that gave two different opinions--Dr F explained what made the most sense, and we went with his plan--and are really glad we did!!

We just saw Dr Fernandes for a second opinion for our 3 yr old, and were very impressed with how he checked her so carefully, and explained everything so simple and clearly. We then visited three major heart centers to get opinions-- in NY, Philadelphia and then Boston, as she will need surgery, and were amazed to hear of how well he is known, and how highly he is regarded by the doctors at each one of those centers!!Once we get this corrected, we know who to go back to-- the Best Cardiologist for children--Dr F

Had a great visit with Dr Fernandes at his new and lovely Office at 101 Old Short Hills Rd. .Only have good things to say!!Great facility and equipment too.Well known and respected Doctor . Reading the prior reviews, it is sad that a few people are so foolish to go to these high level specialists ,but ignorantly and blatantly ignore all protocol, and then complain like the Fools they really are--that is not a Free clinic, nor a Wic or Babysitting center--go there for a good Cardiologist!!Otherwise try the local Hospital in Newark for your other real needs .

I have twins, one of whom had a heart hole and valve trouble, which Dr F found out about well before birth.He has taken us through the first 2 years so cautiously and calmly, that with holding off surgery and using medications till she was old enough to be out of danger, the hole became small enough to leave alone, and we now are out of danger.Dr F is such a thoughtful and caring person,and a well known expert in this , and we are so grateful for how he has helped us through. I had not written a review on this, but now have --after seeing the most recent one.With twins,and very active ones from age 1 to now 2, as they should be!,there was no way I would even expect Dr F to do the difficult Echo test with both babies with me in the testing room,and so me and my husband always made arrangements for that--the fact that this last person complains about not being seen shows that she has no idea of the proper way good and careful cardiologists operate, and more so --how can she rate the… doctor badly, when she did not even see him or have the benefit of his well known expertise --and this really bugs me.She really sounds like a brat who has not managed to get her way, and so in a tantrum. I will hope the parents who have had such good care given to their children and families write about it like I have.I am sure in the many years the doctor has been around, there are so many good stories like ours.

Do not be turned off from his somewhat cold office staff. Dr. Fernandes is an amazing cardiologist. He approaches his patients with warmness, he does not react quickly to perform surgery---which has been a blessing in our case. Our son was diagnosed with a somewhat severe heart problem. Dr. Fernandes suggested that we take it week by week until booking surgery. Most doctors would have suggested open heart surgery right away. Dr. Fernandes advised that we listen to our sons body first. with time, patience and very detailed monitoring...we were able to avoid surgery and our son is now on the non-surgical path. Boy am I glad that I listened to our Doctor. He is VERY well respected throughout the hospital as well.
