Dr. John Glenn Finkenberg, MD

You can read all the other negative reviews about him online and you will see that my experience with Dr Finkenberg is not an isolated incident. I went to him for back surgery at the end of 2021. After the surgery I was still experiencing a lot of pain so he said I could call him anytime and he’d get back to me asap but despite my being in extreme pain he would take 4-5 days to get back to me! His bio says he “makes extraordinary efforts to find the correct diagnosis” but when I would go in for checkups he would say “I don’t know why this isn’t working”. Well I’m not a doctor, it’s his job to figure out what’s not working and come up with an alternative solution. It started to remind me of the movie Dope Sick with Michael Keaton because every time I would come to him for pain management he’d just prescribe a different drug instead of trying to find a permanent fix. At one point he sent me to a different doctor for a nerve ablation consultation and it took them 2 weeks to get me… in. That doctor incorrectly scheduled me for an epidural. That tells me Dr Finkenberg doesn’t even follow up to check that his patents are receiving the proper care from his referrals. It saddens me because I’ve dealt with a lot of doctors in my lifetime and they have all given me the respect of following up to check on my progress and I only heard from Dr Finkenberg’s office one time and it was from a nurse. If you need back surgery, whatever you do, my advice is to stay away from Finkenberg.

I had the misfortunate of meeting with Dr. Finkenberg yesterday. This doctor displays an inability to even pretend to show concern about a patient's well being. The alternative is that he simply doesn't care. He provided me with no information as to what might be causing the pain, provided no assurances whatsoever that experiencing numbness and debilitating pain in my neck, elbow and hand for the past 6 weeks is no cause for alarm, didn't offer any injections or prescriptions. He didn't ask if the pain was getting worse or better, what specific movements made it worse, or ask about what other treatments I'd been through. He spent a total of about 5 minutes with me, during which all I got was a referral to a physical therapist, and a $200 bill. I didn't even get a "good luck" or "heal well." I left the office feeling like I was little more than an inconvenient detour on his way to more important things. It was a saddening experience for me, and left me with a profound unpleasant… feeling. Such a disappointment.

No follow up calls after surgery, and refused to help me with pain meds that I know work for me

Finkenberg destroyed my quality of life. It also caused me to go into deep depression everyday, it’s actually sad. I don’t wish this on anyone. I need to get to the doctors now because I can barely walk but terrified of another doctor. So I’m just praying for healing that’s all I have left I have such resentment for this doctor, but I have to forgive him or I will be a bitter women. It’s so sad to see my quality of life now. I’m angry at myself for choosing him as a doctor . I was better before surgery and I needed surgery. My quality of life is zero now. I was full of life and I can’t even exercise or walk no longer. I had a beautiful body and he destroyed it. He only does surgery for money and we are his guinea pig. I do think he has mental problems . He has no right doing any surgery, he needs to get out of the business, maybe try a younger doctor his bad news.

This doctor had no interest in treating my neck or back conditions! After 3 visits including an MRI he offered no health care or solutions to my conditions. A few days later I requested a copy of the MRI that my insurance paid hundreds of dollars for, I was told that I would have to pay $5.00 and go to pick it up! I requested it be mailed to me and they refused to do so and said I would have to come in and sign a release form! I drove to the Dr’s office, paid for parking, paid the $5.00 and left with a copy, No release form involved! This Dr. is not about health care! He and his staff are about taking every dime they can from the patients and the insurance companies! I DO NOT recommend this Dr.

I'm in constant pain for 6 months and have muscle spasms all over my leg. I can't stand in the shower or sit in the car from my back pain. And after spending $800 on this man, he tells me I'm perfect and there's nothing wrong with me. And doesn't help me or believe me at all. Worst doctor I've ever seen.

Told me only surgery would fix neck pain. After surgical pre-op meetings I mentioned to him a 2nd opinion doctors diagnosis. On the way out of his office he changed the discs to be operated on without any explanation. When I late phoned about this, I was told it had been a clerical error. I fired him, and had just an epidural from another doctor and have no pain.

You had better hope that things go well after your surgery because if they don't, this doctor does not care. He did his surgery. He feels his job is done. Any complications? Too bad for you . You are on your own. It has been 6 mos. post surgery. I am still in pain and can barely walk. Every time I meet with him he merely defends his surgical techniques. I am profoundly disappointed. I thought he would help me to feel better but instead I feel worse than before the surgery. He is completely lacking in empathy.

It was clear to me that this Dr was working for the insurance Co and did not have my best interest in mind. He showed little or NO concern about me.
