Dr. Jack Gillean, MD

Dr. Gillean is a Board Certified adult psychiatrist with a breadth of clinical and research experience, including a background in various forms of psychotherapy. His areas of expertise include mood disorders, such as depression and bipolar disorder, anxiety disorders, PTSD, and schizophrenia. Hailing from a long line of physicians, Dr. Gillean was drawn to psychology early on by the writings of the early psychodynamic theorists Jung and Erickson. He also appreciated the opportunity to form strong working relationships with patients and the great potential that discipline provides for healing the whole person. Dr. Gillean decided to pursue a career in psychiatry to offer patients the full range of treatment options, including pharmacological and advanced non-invasive therapies, as well as participate in the many research opportunities in this still-burgeoning field. Dr. Gillean works openly and collaboratively with each patient to develop a treatment plan that facilitates the recovery …and attainment of his or her goals. His training was founded on the recovery model, which empowers patients to make educated decisions about their treatment with the guidance of an experienced clinician. Dr. Gillean guides his patients through the treatment of illness and maintenance of wellness with a combination of excellent psychiatric treatment, a healthy diet, exercise, and good self-care.
