He said the discomfort I was having in my upper lip was because there was scar tissue stuck in the nerves. He scraped and scraped my lip and it has never been the same. I'm suffering terribly even after so much time has gone by and there's no end in sight with the pain and discomfort that I am experiencing. I actually feel like I'm eating cotton candy and someone is pouring hot oil or grease on my lip and this is 24/7. I don't know how I even can sleep.

If I could give 0 stars I would. I had a medically necessary scar revision surgery performed by Dr. John Gillespie in June of 2024. He scraped and scraped my upper lip to the point that I didn't think I would have a lip left when he was done. I have been suffering horrifically for over 18 months now with this feeling like I'm eating cotton candy and hot oil or grease is being poured all over my lip. I don't get any break from the pain or discomfort that I have 24/7. Eating and drinking are the worst. He should have been aware that the lip has over a million nerve endings and no protective membrane and has to be dealt with meticulously. I have been to over 38 specialists and no one knows what to do other than giving me medications that don't agree with me and they all know that my lip has been damaged.

Thank you Dr. Gillespie for your excellent compassionate care while performing my surgery, your guidance and understanding gave me a comfortable feeling. Your office staff are professional. I am extremely grateful.

Dr. Gillespie performed my reconstruction after a bilateral mastectomy and I cannot speak highly enough of him. After being diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 32, Dr. Gillespie truly made my journey and recovery so much easier! He has incredible bedside manner and is such a down-to earth, genuine physician that listens and gives his patients his time and attention. He is always quick to respond no matter what time it is and he is a very gifted surgeon!! I always felt like he genuinely cared and had my best interest in mind and I am so happy with the results of my reconstruction!
