Dr. John Abner Goldman, MD

Just visited with Dr Goldman - again after many visits over the last 40 years. He is absolutely the most intelligent person that I have met. I have had rheumatoid for more than 42 years. His treatments have kept me out of a wheelchair. I have waited many hours in all of those years. I will tell you, he is so worth the wait. When I am in the treatment room, I have his full attention. He never rushes his patients - he treats each on an individual basis. I always keep that in mind when I am waiting in the reception area. One of his greatest assets is his ability to diagnose problems or issues outside of his speciality and does not hesitate to send you to someone if he sees the need. He has taught me to take charge of my disease. I always give my input and he respects my opinion. I have referred many people to him, who were pleased with his care. I too, do not care for his political views. I just ignore them. I think his passion comes from watching medicine take a nose dive over the last… few years. He still continues to take Medicare patients, even though his compensation is minimal, at most. Many doctors do not take Medicare. I drive two hours for my appointments and will continue to do so. So take a good book and know that when it comes your time to see him, he will give you all of his attention. Marilyn McGahee

If you have nothing better to do than to wait half a day on this doctor, then go ahead and make your appointment. Waited close to 3 1/2 hours and then left as the receptionist wasn't anywhere to be found and the answering service answered the phone when I called from the front desk. Will never return. No patient should ever wait that long. Too many great and efficient doctors in the metro Atlanta area than to waste your time with this one.

Dr. Goldman is very knowledgeable, but you can expect expressions of his political opinions every few minutes. and a non-stop diatribe against the government and the president. There a political signs all over the office. He appears to be very thorough, but I found it exhausting to carry on a conversation with him. Some of the staff are very nice, and his phlebotomist is the best I have ever encountered. She can draw blood with no pain whatsoever. However, one of the office workers definitely needs to work on her people skills, that is all I will say about her. I do have some reservations about the amount of testing he does. I think I got an accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment, but bring your patience and your assertiveness. You will need it.

He is very thorough. He wants lots of info from patient. Interesting but fun pereonality.

Friendly staff. Very caring doctor with much knowledge in many fields. He helped my fibro.

I saw Dr. Goldman recently and have never been treated so rudely. I waited for TWO HOURS just to be seen (after a 6 week wait just to get in to the practice). A two hour wait would not have been so bad if the doctor was wonderful. He was anything but nice/caring/empathetic. He talked over me, cut me off, made snide remarks about my paperwork and then finally as I was leaving, I overheard him complaining to his staff...ABOUT ME! I could hear him! I guess besides me being dumb, he thought I was deaf too! He did not care though. His staff told me he is always running this late and this is just how it is and the same with his attitude. Maybe he is great if you care to put up with the exorbitant wait and his crusty demeanor. He is not for me and I have not been back! There are many CARING doctors in Atlanta who will treat you as if you are a person and not some bumbling idiot!

Extremely pleased with the ongoing care I'm receiving from Dr. Goldman for chronic joint pain. He's unique among specialists I've visted because he asks great questions, takes the time to thoroughly answer my questions and provides immediate feedback to my concerns. With all his patients experiencing chronic pain, his approach is refreshingly candid. I'm lucky to have been referred to Dr. Goldman by my primary care physician. A+ rating.

Dr Goldman cares and works hard to help his patients. He takes time when other doctors call about his patient to ensure accurate information is available to those doctors. That means you might wait a while, but when the doctor is asking about you, well, you understand why you need to wait. I've been seeing Dr Goldman for over 10 years.

I have been going to Dr. Goldman since I was 19 years old (I have JRA). I am now 41. He is a fantastic rheumatologist with a gentle nature and compassionate spirit. He is open to patient suggestions and input and allows us to be part of the decision making process with our bodies. Having a chronic illness is tough on a person. Dr. Goldman has helped me to have a better quality of life for 22 years now.
