Dr. John David Hensala JR., MD

Did some Telehealth calls with John. He seemed very uninterested in what I had to say, and I suspected he was doing something else in the background when we had sessions with the camera off. He's not interested in listening to you vent when something's bothering you, and he gets frustrated if you don't solve major challenges in the span of a week or two. He ran every conversation into the ground and it was tough to fill a full session.

Do not send your boys to him.

I found Dr. Hensala to be patient, compassionate and a very good listener. I have been to several therapists over the years. What I liked most about Dr. Hensala was that he never "lost the narrative" ; ie, he listened carefully, remembered things I had told him while providing important insights and gently challenging some stubborn patterns of behavior. I also found his "goal oriented" approach towards therapy refreshing. I would give him 6 stars if I could.

Dr. Hensala was compassionate, a very good listener, and he diagnosed and treated my condition competently and with great skill. I'd recommend him to anyone looking for a good psychiatrist or a good therapist.
