Dr. John Richard Holman, MD

My husband was a patient of Dr. Holman. He became terribly ill, and being over 60, his symptoms should have sent off multiple alarms of a potential emergency situation. When he called to make an appointment, the SOONEST they could get him in was 4 weeks. Called back and emphasized how ill he was, and the receptionist said he could see the PA the following day, which he did. Long story short....we ended up in ER, the very thing we were trying to avoid. So, Dr, Holman may be an exceptional doctor, but if you can't get in to see him when you need to, it doesn't work out so great. CVMC diagnosed him within 10 minutes of being there, confirmed it with lab results in another hour and had him scheduled to see a specialist shortly after that. After seeing the specialist he was able to take pain meds that alleviated his 14 days of suffering. Not that it should ever be the reason to get/not get exceptional care, but we have excellent PPO Health Insurance and the ability to pay… whatever the insurance doesn't cover. I'm guessing this was a judgement call on his front office staff, and should be addressed.

I am a senior and have had many doctor throughout my life, Dr Holman is in a tie with a Kaiser doctor in California for first place! He is smart, great at doctoring and take appropriate time with me. Because he is excellent it isn't easy to get an appointment and non-scheduleds are difficult, HOWEVER that is our health care system not to do with the doctor.

Very difficult to receive a call back from receptionist. Dr. Holman is wonderful, but as for his staff-not so helpful.

Dr. Holman is fantastic, very knowledgeable, caring and wise however his staff needs to be trained in professionalism, kindnes, and courtesy. Even with this being said I would still recommend Dr. Holman. If he wasn't so good I would leave because of his staff. They are terrible.
