Dr. John T Hopkins, MD

John T. Hopkins, MD, wanted to become a physician because he loves teaching and believes that ultimately being a good primary care doctor and especially a pediatrician involves being a good teacher. Dr. Hopkins’ wife and two children have been his biggest influences. They inspire him want to be a better person and stay honest with himself. What Dr. Hopkins enjoys most about his career is hearing about the joys and successes of kids and spending time getting to know his patients’ families. He has special interests in obesity medicine.During his free time, Dr. Hopkins teaches Sunday school. He also enjoys singing in his gospel quartet, long distance bike rides and hiking with his family. He is also an amateur glass blower and wood turner.For kids and their parents, doctors’ offices are scary places. Kids are scared of all the strange people in their personal space and afraidof pain. Parents fear for their child's safety and hope for their future. My personal passion is …working with children and parents untilthey understand that going to their pediatrician can be exciting and not at all scary. At the same time, I hope to empower my parentsthrough education
