Dr. John Daniel Horgan, MD

Dismissed my concerns and experience, didn't listen, didn't problem solve. Horrible experience. The nurse was helpful and did try and get me further help elsewhere.

Dr. Horgan was not friendly and did not seem to care about my case. He entered the room with the wrong chart. After retrieving the right chart, he came back to tell me that nothing is wrong with me. Although I had just been in the ER twice with UTI, Kidney Stones, and Pyelonephritis. At this time I was still experiencing lots of pain and was taking narcotics regularly. When I asked why I was still having pain in my flanks, he tried to blame it on something else. He said that the only reason I would be having pain is because of obstruction and infection. Dr. Horgan managed to degrade my condition by saying that my stone wouldn't cause any pain because it was small. I will never recommend this doctor to anyone and wish that no one else has to experience his lack of professionalism, compassion, and concern for his patients.

Dr. seems 'flip' many times - not a good listener. Surgery wasn't successful and once we told him we weren't going to go through it again, he was like 'whatever'. Many appointments get rescheduled at least once, sometimes 2 or 3 times. Information about pharmacy, insurance, medication require call-backs, re-submission, etc., because the information doesn't get changed in the records. Some of the staff are friendly and listen. Many others just go through the motions. I'm quickly losing confidence in this dr and this office.

Stay away

Dr. Horgan said I had only 19% function in my right kidney and said they would remove the kidney at 15% function. Also, he stated there could be nothing done for the pain and to just learn how to deal with it. After I asked what to look for as far as further kidney loss- signs and symptoms, he decided to schedule an appointment 6 months from now for a renal scan and blood work- which I will be canceling. He didn't seem concerned about it the low kidney function and asked why I was crying when this was good news?? With someone who has had bad kidneys from the time of birth to have a doctor take this situation so nonchalantly, is very concerning for me. Thankfully I listened to family and went to get a second opinion. After seeing my Nephrologist, he stated that I do not have 19% function but 50% function- big difference, he didn't know why they would take the kidney out at 15% and referred me to another Urologist in the Omaha area. I personally think this doctor is very rude, didn't… care enough to listen to my concerns, and he didn't spend more than 10 minutes in the room with me. I am not looking for a VIP experience but I expect that when I go to the doctor that I am paying a lot of money to see, that they will LISTEN to me, and take into account my health history and not laugh off my crying after being told I was pretty much in kidney failure. He offered no solutions for the pain, no immediate further testing- nothing. I do not and will not recommend any one see this doctor.

Dr. Horgan diagnosed and did the surgery to resolve kidney stones. He was wonderful and I am here now to find him to as I thought I might need his services.

Great experience, don't know what these other reviews are taking about. very friendly staff and nice waiting area. Would recommend!

Dr. Horgan treated me for cancer last year. I found out about the tumor the Friday before Memorial weekend and my PCP sent me to him. He got me in within an hour and had me scheduled for surgery the following week. He was caring, competent and helped me and my family though a difficult experience. I would highly recommend him.

Horrible doctor, staff was poor, office was extremely concerned with getting paid. Doctor should have been a veterinarian. Incisions are still knotted up after stitches have been removed, quite a bit of scar tissue. Still in pain 2 months after completion of operation, have talked to nurse assistant several times about pain and the only answer seems to be "keep your jock strap on, all people heal at different rates". I personally won't be going back, not even for the sperm count!
