Besides for being a great Dr. with many success stories, Dr. Houten is a real mentch, a respectable person, caring and a man of dignity, he had lots of patients for me and listened to my concerns, he couldn't operate on me for a specific reason but he hooked me up with another top Dr. in the field and even got me an appointment! He operated on me 3 years ago to remove a nerve shaft tumor in my lumbar spine. He caused serious bladder and bowel issues that are not correctable. He minimized the damage and the incision was done so poorly it did not heal correctly and was infected. It had to be redone by a plastic surgeon. I was in the hospital and in rehab for a month. He also minimized this issue and tried to send me to his wife who is a plastic surgeon. I had enough of his mistakes and lack of concern and went to another doctor. I have heard he did not leave Boca Raton Regional Hospital because he wanted to return to NYC. Patients in florida are lucky he is gone.

Dr. Houten did my neck and back surgery. It's 9 years now and doing great. He is one of the best!

10 patients in 10 different rooms. 45 min. waiting and 4 min. actual seeing by doctor. Had no time for discussing case. Very disapointing!

I had been having injections in my back for years, which was only a band aid for pain, NOT REPAIRING my problem. A person we know told us about Dr. Houten, and we made an appointment. From our first meeting, my wife and I felt comfortable with Dr. Houten, and scheduled surgery immediately based on what he told us, and on his expertise. At 70 years old, no surgery is easy, but at 10 1/2 months now, I have been PAIN FREE for at least 8 months, and counting. Aches and pains from therapy, yes, but not the pain that I was suffering from my condition, that was totally dibilitating. Based on post-op MRI my problem was repaired. Dr. John Houten didn't just treat me, but supported my wife's concerns and calmed her through my time in the hospital, and until I no longer needed to be his patient.
