Dr. John Taft Johnson, MD

This doctor has zero social intelligence. He is rude. Zero compassion. Low tolerance threshold. Doesn't get to the bottom of your problem. Just wants to turf you off. Run away. Don't consider him. Find someone else. Reviews show he is is rude. Just copied this review: "Bedside Manner: Some patients have found his communication style to be curt, lacking empathy, or dismissive when explaining conditions." If you ask a question, he will glare at you.

If there was a negative star, I would give it. I went with my husband to his appointment since my husband had recently been in the hospital. I wanted to hear what the doctor had to say. My husband was called back to see the doctor almost one hour after his actual appointment time. Dr. Johnson was rude to me for asking questions, and was almost at the point of raising his voice with me. He told my husband to stop taking 2 medications that a cardiologist had prescribed only 2 days earlier. He didn't even call that doctor to consult with him. Four days later I had to take my husband to the ER because his heart rate was 41 beats a minute. The ER doctor was furious that he had been told to stop those medications, and when he found out who told him to do so, the ER doctor just shook his head and said find another doctor. I would not recommend this man to treat anyone!

Front counter staff and the nurse were all wonderful, but I wouldn't recommend Dr. Johnson to anyone. First, I had to apply to become a patient. I had to submit my full medical profile before being allowed to schedule a new patient appointment for primary care. After being approved and arriving for my appointment, I waited for over an hour to bee seen and ended up missing work that afternoon. Doctors should be held just as accountable as their patients for punctuality. If your office can cancel my appointment and charge me additional fees for being 15 minutes late, why not refund my copay for being over an HOUR behind? What's the point of an appointment if the doctor doesn't even see you on time? Patients have other obligations and can't just sit in a waiting room all day. During my appointment, Dr. Johnson was rude and tactless while questioning my medical history. Referred to my prior procedures as "choices" in a very derogatory manner and rudely pried into the root causes of my… mental health issues. Wanted a full personality profile of my family for some reason? And just made some very uncomfortable comments regarding the specialists I need to see and my marital status. Overall terrible bedside manner. Finally, Dr. Johnson made a change to a medication that should have required consultation with another provider. I was not counseled the proper way to transition between medications, and this caused me to end up in emergency care a few days after the change. When I contacted Dr. Johnson's office to schedule a follow-up, I was told they need to be contacted by the ER first and that I should call the ER and put pressure on them to fax the records over faster. I had copies of the discharge paperwork but that wasn't good enough. This doctor's poor decision sent me to the hospital and then couldn't be bothered to see me after to follow up on why. Absolutely unacceptable. I will be seeking a new primary care physician.

He takes his time answering any questions you might have and he asks you questions to get a handle of whats going on.

Staff is polite but he shouldn't be working with human beings. He must have purchased his degree, he has absolutely no skills in communication. The rudest doctor I have ever encountered and no medications involved I wouldn't trust him with a pet fish.
