Dr. John Cureton Keel, MD

My first visit was awful. Sat in room for a long time. He did not apologize for the long wait. He did not listen to me about any of my symptoms and he put what he wanted on my records. Then he tells me there is nothing he can do for me.He is not helpful at all. He sent me to a Neurology Dr and the lady said I don't know why he sent you to me. So on my second visit it was the same. I had swelling. He act like I was lieing to him. Now he tells me to follow up when needed. I will never go back to him and I will not recommend him to any one.

Dr. Keel wasn't friendly. Very distant. very cool. Told me what my MRI showed. Didn't show it to me, then asked if there was anything else he could do for me. He answered a couple of my questions and that was it. Made me wonder what on earth I was doing there and I traveled a long distance to see him.

Dr. Keel, came in and told me my insurance wasn't any good, that it would bog down there system and if he had his own private practice and knew I had the kind of insurance I have that he would not even see me. I handed him my medical records, he looked at 8 or so out of approx. 50 pages, didn't even look at my nerve study test and said I wasn't a candidate for surgery.. He checked the feeling in my legs, I told him I just felt pressure on my left side, he just said hmmm. Then he wants to see me again in two months, FOR WHAT! Absoluteley useless!

Another wonderful Physician at Emory. Dr. Keel embodies excellent care with exceptional bedside manner. So pleased.

I have had a severe neck problem for over 20 years. I am an active participant in my health care and feel that I am part of a team of experts that help me; my PT, chiropractor, acupuncturist, and Dr. John Keel. Surgery is not an option for me so I rely on the care of this team. When I am in a high pain cycle, I go to Dr. Keel for my facet joint block injections, occipital block injections and I have had radio frequency ablation done on the left side of my neck. Years ago, I have had the cervical epidural steroid injections and trigger point injections at Beth Israel. I am truly amazed at the procedures that Dr. Keel performs assisted by the use of radiology. He thoroughly explains what will be done during the treatment. As he performs the procedures, he explains everything and checks in with me to see how I'm doing. Injections in the neck aren't an easy task and I wouldn't trust just any doctor to do this but I have full confidence in Dr. Keel's decisions and care. As I share with him… how difficult basic tasks can be in my daily life, he gives me hope that the medicine injected will perhaps help me. I do encourage patients to see him in his office and discuss all of the issues then have whatever treatment he recommends at New England Baptist. The medicine doesn't always make me feel better but it's my last attempt in my neck care. I never expect to be pain free after I see Dr. Keel because that isn't possible. He is always honest and never promises anything that's unrealistic or impossible. I would highly recommend Dr. Keel to anyone experiencing spine pain. I wouldn't trust anyone else to put needles in my neck in those small spaces between cervical vertebrae. When the medicine helps with the inflammation, I have a better quality of life thanks to Dr. Keel.

I had a follow up with Dr. Keel and he was as great as if I met him the first time. I believe I have said that I have been treated by Dr. Keel now for about 5-7 years. He is VERY knowleddgeable, VERY attentive to your physical needs and he takes every precaution that he can. I am truly impressed with his complete knowledge!

I HAVE BEEN seeing Dr Keel for close to 7 yrs. Before I FOUND DR. kEEL, I searched high and low for the best in a spine doctor. Dr. Keel was recommended to me by another DR. at beth israeL. WHAT A BLESSING! After FEW APPOINTMENTS, HE KNEW EXACTLY HOW TO TREAT ME. Dr. Keel is extremely INTELLIGENT IN HIS FIELD, PROFFESSIONAL, A TRUE SPINE EXPERT--during any procedure he lets me know EXACTLY what is happening, gentle, considerate. I certainly am blessed to find such a knowledgable, Dr. Keel still treats me for my spine injury and I cannot recommend him but w/ the HIGHEST OF RECOMMENDATIONS! THE BEST OF THE BEST! Thank you Dr. Keel!
