Dr. John Allen Knepper

My wife went to this practice, referred by her PCP. She provided all pertinent identity info including a birthdate, SSN for Medicare insurance, license & medical records. She asked only that her license not be scanned due to past idenity fraud problems. She was then refused treatment & asked by the office mgr to leave! How shameful & disgraceful is that? The way the front desk treats people is usually reflective of how patients can expect to be treated by the Drs who hired them. Because her PCP had moved out of town my wife had many scripts that were about to run out & no other Dr lined up. Scripts where you shouldn't abruptly stop talking them which caused her alot of undue stress. There's no law that requires copies be made of photo IDs. What's asked for is at the decretion of the provider & the information was enough to positively identitfy her. It was certainly more than enough for someone else to steal her identity...again. She had been advised to be very cautious especially… with private practices & schools where it occurs most often.

I have lived here in the Charleston area for 3 years and have gone to 3 different doctors for my thyroid condition and physicals. Today I went to my 4th doctor and Dr. Knepper was excellent. His bedside manner is great and you can tell he really cares about his patients. He took his time, reviewed my history, and went over all concerns with me. He is now my permanent doctor. His staff, especially his nurse, was very caring and knowledgable. Excellent, excellent Doctor.

Dr. Knepper has been my doctor for years and he is so thorough and takes his time. He is the best physician.

I truly like Dr Knepper and personally have been very happy with him. However, his staff leaves a lot to be desired.

I love Dr. Knepper. I have been going to him for years. Unfortunately, he hires horrible staff. They hate working there, and they make sure you are aware of it. I would love to go back to him, but I am terrified of his billing department. They have the wrong phone number on the invoices they mail out and they don't care. Every office visit in the last two years has resulted in a 4-5 month billing nightmare and I am afraid I just can't handle the stress anymore. Get it together Knepper! I miss you!

I gave this practice several chances and will no more. The office manager and office staff are uncaring and unhelpful. I called to ask for a referral and they couldn't even call back to let me know they received my inquiry. Office manager said they are too busy to call everyone back with a referral name and/or information. Their policy is to call in the referral and then you just have to assume that you will hear from someone. I have also problems with them filing insurance and getting dr.'s notes for my children. I do like Dr. Knepper but his staff has succeeded in driving me to another practice.

very disappointed with customer service....I had to call twice to get blood work results....I also had to call to find out why my referral to my next doctor never happened, left message still no referral...I feel as they are not concerned at all about my condition....I will not go back and certainly will not refer to a friend

This is a review for a friend who has cancer, this inconsiderate moron calling himself a dr. and his equally inept staff refused a simple request for pain meds, quoting a 2 day grace period within the office for such a request and being too busy to make the call. Give me a stinking break, this man is a stoic machine and was in unbearable pain. Do not use this person for your medical needs unless you plan on never getting sick.

Dr. Knepper is wonderful. The customer service and the tone of the office is not. I can't imagine that Dr. Knepper is aware of this. It is a shame. I've been with him for over 10 years and this last ATTEMPT to have a simple question answered by the nurse and get an appt. will be my last.
