Dr. John D. Konsek, MD

I visited Dr. John Konsek because my ejection fraction (HIDA scan) showed the gallbladder function at 14% and ultrasound indicated at least 1 large stone after having multiple painful attacks that lasted several hours. Our primary, Dr Ergle said the gallbladder needed to come out, which was also confirmed by a friend who is a retired surgeon. Going into Dr. Konsek’s office, he was concerned with my weight and the risk that it could end up being an open surgery instead of laparoscopic. He repeatedly attempted to give a gastric surgeon referral, even after I said that I was not interested in weight loss surgery. Although he said he would do my gallbladder surgery, he would not schedule me and only offered a referral to a gastric surgeon when I asked to be scheduled for surgery. Leaving his office, I was very confused and after making a phone call from the parking lot, I went back in and spoke to the nurse asking when would the gallbladder surgery be scheduled and the nurse assured me… that I would get a call… Still waiting. Our surgeon friend was shocked by Dr. Konsek’s response (or lack thereof) and set us up with a wonderful surgeon, Dr. Thomas Young in Greenville, who also agreed that the gallbladder needed to come out promptly which he, in fact, did the next morning. While this worked out for us better in the long run, none-the-less you need to know about Dr. Konsek’s failure to treat the primary pending issue.

Dr. Konsek did several surgeries on me to prepare me for the removal of a cancerous tumor and could not have been better. I have every confidence in him and would not hesitate to have him do surgery on me again. He was compassionate, took time with my husband and me. I could not have had a better doctor.

Dr. Konsek had quite a challenge with my surgery and certainly told me that it might not end well. It ended perfectly! There were alot of surprised people but not me--I knew he would make it be fine--and he did. After my surgery, he attended to me with great care. Today, I feel wonderful and he deserves the credit--along with my special Glorious Physician!

Dr. Konsek is arrogant, thinks his way is the only way and does not take suggestions well. My daughter works in the medical field and suggested another procedure that was suggested by another surgeon, he took offence to her suggestion when I asked him about it. He is short with his answers and does not explain his medical procedure very well. If I ever have to have surgery again, I will look for another surgeon.

Best surgeon in Greenwood area. If Dr. Konseck had not been a little concerned, I dont know where I would be. His "little bit of concern" caught my breast cancer in the first stages and eliminated a lot of pain for me as well as my family. He has since done 2 other surgeries for me and this will be the first for my husband, wouldn't have it any other way.
