Dr. John Michael Koval, MD

Dr Koval is such a compassionate and caring doctor who truly takes the time to make sure every visit is comfortable. He went out of his way to explain everything about my treatment to me making sure that I was comfortable with everything. He made a point to come see me on his off hours during treatment just to make sure I was doing ok. I thank you, Dr Koval for taking such good care of me.

This is the first time I have ever reviewed a doctor. I wanted to make sure that Dr. Koval was given the credit he deserves as the best doctor I have ever seen. I completely disagree with comment below. I have now seen Dr. Koval for over 4 months now, visiting his office almost every week. He spends OVER the ample time with me at every visit and has a very compassionate bedside manner with questions and concerns that I have regarding my treatment. I was required to do radiation after being diagnosed with colon cancer. Dr. Koval was even available after hours if I had questions regarding my treatment or adverse effects. On one occasion, he spent a very long time on the phone with me consoling me through some emotional issues I was having in regards to my treatment. I could tell that he is a very caring individual who wanted to make sure that I was the most comfortable and knowledgable I could be about my own treatment. Also, Dr. Koval's follow-up was impeccable. He called me personally to make sure that I didn't have problems with my insurance and to make sure I didn't have any further questions. I have actively been telling my family and… friends who may need radiation that Dr. Koval is the best doctor to choose if you want someone who takes the extra time to answer questions, explain, and help you understand what to expect during treatment. Thank you to Dr. Koval and his caring staff for all of their help!

iT WAS MY FIRST TIME GETTING RADIATION. I HAD TWO MAJOR BRAIN SURGERIES AND I HAD SKIN CANCER WHERE ON TOP OF MY INCESION FROM THIS SURGERY. I STARTED WITH IS THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS. REPLY NO JUST A RED DOT. I GOT SICK THE 3RD DAY WHEN I MET WITH DR. KOVAL HE SAID IT IS NOT FROM RADIATION GO SEE MY PRIMARY DR, WHO SAID I WAS SICK FROM RADIATION, MY PRIMARY CARE GAVE MEDICATION., I SAW DR KOVAL EVERY WEEK FOR 6 WEEKS WITH A LIST OF MAJOR SIDE EFFECTS. HIS ANSWER WAS NOT FROM RADIATION GO SEE YOUR DRS. I GUESS HE DOESN'T CONSIDER HIMSELF A DR. SOME OF MY SYMPTOMS, NAUSSEA, DIZZY BLOOD GUGAR HIGH, TROUBLE URINATING, CONSTIPATION, WEIGHT GAIN PROBLEMS WITH FOCUSING MY EYES A LOT OF HAIR LOSS, AND FINALLY SHORT TERM MEMORY LOSS.i THOUGHT I HAD ANOTHER BRAIN TUMOR. SAME ANSWER NOT FROM RADIATION AND GO SEE YOUR DR. I DID SEE MY DR. AND HE TOLD ME ALL THE SYMTOMS I HAD WHERE FROM RADIATION. WHEN I FINISHED MY TREAMENT HE WAS SUPPOSED TO DISCHARGE ME. HE WAS THERE TO ANSWER WHAT CAN I… EXPECT AND ANSWER SOME OF MY QUESTIONS. HE WAS A NO SHOW.FINAL INSULT THE HEAD TECH WAS SUPPOSED TO DO WHAT HE DID NOT DO. SHE STARTED MY RADIATION AND TURNED IT OVER TO SOMEONE I NEVER MET. HE HAD NO CLUE ABOUT MY CONDITION AND HANDED ME A SHEET WITH A FOLLOW UP,I ASKED THE OFFICE MANAGER IF ANY OF THE NURSES OR ANYONE CAN DISCHARGE ME AND ANSWER MY QUESTIONS AND SHE SAID NO. FINALLY I SAID I WANTED ANOTHER DR. IN THE FURTURE AND SHE SAID SOMEONE WOULD GET BACK TO ME THE NEXT DAY. I NEVER GOT ONE CALL FROM ANY ONE AT TAMPA BAY RADIATION ONCOLOGY AND THE END OF THE WEEK I CALLED AND CANCELLED MY FOLLOW UP. I DROVE OVER 50 MILES A DAY AND PAID A CO PAY FOR 30 DAYS OF TREAMENT. I WOULD DRIVE 100 MILES NOT TO EVER SEE THIS SO CALLED DR. THE OTHER PATIENTS I TALKED IN THE LOBBY HAD THE SAME PROBLEM NO COMMUNICATION FROM THE DR. I WILL NOT DRAG THEM INTO MY SITUATION BUT I DID REPORT HIM TO MY DRS. AND MY INSURANCE CO. I DO NOT WANT ANYONE ELSE TO GO TO A DR WHO IS CONCERNED ABOUT THEIR HEALTH AND NEVER GET A ANSWER. TO MY QUESTIONS. I FIND OUT ABOUT A WEEK LATER WHEN I WAS GETTING SICKER AND A LOT MORE COMPLICATIONS THAT IT COULD TAKE UP TO 2 MONTHS OR MORE TO GET BACK TO NORMAL . I AM A LITTLE OVER 3 WEEKS AND I AM SICK AS A DOG. IF I KNEW WHAT TO EXPECT IT MIGHT HAVE MADE IT EASIER ON MY AND NOT WONDER IF I HAD TO HAVE MORE BRAIN SURGERY. I NEVER WANT TO HEAR FROM DR. KOVAL OR HIS OFFICE. I HOPE OTHER PEOPLE THAT HAVE EXPERIENCE THE SAME THING WILL COME FORWARD.

Compassionate and never feel rushed when seeing him. He is very knowledgable in his field. I highly recommend him!
