Dr. John Edwin Krettek Jr, MD

I know Dr Krettek from a long time ago when he was a student at Washington University School of Medicine and I was in Nursing School. He was a dedicated, caring man who worked very hard to someday become an experienced, highly respected neurosurgeon. It is evident all that hard work and dedication has paid off. I wish him nothing but the best.

Dr. Krettek operated on me in 2002 and 2003. The first fusion didn't take and so the second surgery the following year Dr. Krettek stated that I was fused and he took all of the hardware out from my previous surgery. I had after the second surgery severe snoring. I did a sleep study which I was diagnosed with having severe obstructive sleep apne (I quit breathing 46 times an hour) and restless leg syndrome. I went into the office and found our that Dr.Krettek had quit practicing at my second post-op visit. Then Dr. Krettek's fellow partner Dr. Polinsky sent me to several doctor's telling me that I needed a psychiatrist and counseling. Four years later I found out that I was never fused. My first post-op visit after the second surgery I was told by Dr.Krettek that he could put me on disability and also that he wouldn't let me go back on the floor as a floor nurse because I could become paralyzed if a patient grabbed my neck wrong. Since then I had to under go 2 more neck surgeries. By… the way, I couldn't sue Dr. Krettek because he had quit practicing. I as a fellow medical person would like to say that although he was a great person to talk to, I thought that being the head neuro surgeon of Missouri Baptist Medical Center where I was also an employee and highly recommended by several peers/employees, he did me a great service where my lively hood was shortened and taken away from me by his disservice. I have dealt with severe pain since 2002. I hope that no one else goes through with what I endure every day since this all started in 2002.
