Dr. John Norbert Krupka, DDS

After being seen at a nearby community health center and complaining about a specific tooth being sensitive to temperature it was suggested I consider finding a dentist or Endodontist for consideration of root canal treatment. I researched my options and after seeing several positive reviews decided to use Dr. Krupka. The ladies answering the phone were very friendly. I made an appointment. After seeing Dr. Krupka for a consult he told me he felt good about doing the root canal. My only two options were root canal or extraction. I had already had one molar extracted in the past, so I didn't want to lose another. I was told root canal treatment has an 80% success rate. Those were pretty good odds. This wasn't the first one I had. The others were successful. So, I had the root canal done. There were little concerns shortly after. Dr. Krupka adjusted the tooth a short while later. I did have some sensitivity to cold at one time and heat another. You're not suppose to have those issues… with a successful treatment. I moved to another city while still having some concerns. After moving the treated tooth was becoming sensitive anytime I put pressure on it while chewing, or even touching it with my tongue. I decided to see another dentist for a consult. That dentist looked at my xray from Dr. Krupka and took his own. He said he could see what appeared to be infection possibly due to a canal that had not been sealed properly. I was put on an antibiotic and referred to an Endodontist for futher evaluation. The Endodontist looked at the xray and took his own. He saw a second issue. To him it appeared that piece of a file was left in the treated canal. If he were to try to retreat the tooth as in start over, undo what had already been done and start over, there was a good chance I'd need two processes done, not just the re root canal. Then there was still no guarantee for success. One other thing I left out, Dr. Krupka did not use a rubber dam while working in my mouth, which left chances that bacteria could get in to the tooth while working on it. Financial wise when all would have been said and done, I'd probably end up spending an additional $3000-$4000 on top of the $1200 plus I already had spent. So as soon as my tooth shows signs of being infected again (which I've been told it will), I will be getting it extracted by an oral surgeon. I've already consulted with him, and that was his suggestion. I sent a couple of emails to Dr. Krupka's office to let him know what was going on, and made the suggestion that perhaps he refund part of my money back since it appears he bears some responsibility in the final unsuccessful outcome. I never received a reply.
